These contracts are not going to scale with the CBA increases, so they’ll still be 700 or 780 in 3-6 years from now when most of the rest of the league are taking in another 35%.

Other players on that money this year if they have the full CBA increase in their contracts will be taking home something like 900k in 3-6 years. It’s apples and oranges.

We overpay a bit on flat numbers for this reason, but we bank the increase and will be able to go back to the well again next year when there are better FAs available.

His forte was always in the front half of the ground. Was seen as a good finisher at his peak with St Kilda.
Is that necessarily a bad thing if he stays a HF and contributes? It's not like Essendon we're under cap pressure when he signed.

I think he's solid to good as a half forward and am happy with the signing even if its a bit meh. I was trying to suggest that him viewing himself as a midfielder has held him back from succeeding as a forward but maybe that is a reach.

He's a poor mans Jack Higgins at his very best, and probably on twice as much money.
