I'll be sure to bump this thread next year when JOM singlehandedly brings down a solar eclipse upon the entire Gold Coast whilst Cochrane weeps softly in the corner :)

He is a quality player no doubt, hence why we want fair value

I'll be sure to scuttle back to this thread tomorrow to see the reactions when JOM reaches Hawthorn anyway! :)

Vickery, Mitchell and O'Meara this year, Martin or Fyfe the next...

Feels great barracking for a club where the future is always bright and everyone else hates you for it. :D

I'd consider myself a realist, alright? But in philosophical terms I'm what's called a pessimist... I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself - we are creatures that should not exist by natural law... We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, that accretion of sensory experience and feelings, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody's nobody... I think the honorable thing for our species to do is to deny our programming. Stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction - one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.

O'Meara is the YELLOW KING!!!

once we have 8 and JOM committed, we would surely get him to go to the PSD.
No skin off GCS' back or ours.
We just need to make 8 worthwhile to GCS.
2017 1st & 29 is better than 10 and 48.
And what makes you think GCS are going to set this up for JOM to go to Essendon or any other club?

I imagine Cochrane would be wary of any club trying to snare JOM for unders (in his estimation anyway). HFC are copping a whacking from GCS but only because we're the ones he has to deal with presently. If JOM for arguments sake indicated tonight he's changed his mind and wanted to go to Essendon, GCS are still likely to want two 1st round draft picks or a draft pick and a very good player. That would be consistent with all his utterings to date.

I believe GCS are going to make HFC sweat this one out to the eleventh hour to extract the very best HFC can come up with. I hope he accepts our offer then. If he doesn't, then he will try to talk JOM into staying (via re-drafting with pick 8). If that fails I suspect JOM will not risk it and if Essendon can come up with a contract that meets his expectation, he'll opt for the PSD.

Am I the only one who isn't too fussed with keeping pick 10? Kid could be a jet and could partner well with Fyfe/Martin next year ready for another tilt!
Future first + 23 + 36 is still an awful lot to give up for pick 10 though.
Still firmly believe he'll make it to the Hawks one way or another.

The AFL through their mouth piece GCS would be happy to send JOM to the Draft. To show other young players, "hey dont think about screwing us over you could end up anywhere, even Fremantle or back at GCS". Short Term Draft Pick 10 loss to GCS but a strong message sent from the AFL not to mess with their toys. = Long term gain

Aww you think the AFL cares about us that much. Is that headband around your head in the picture too tight?

Yeah, but gotta make the best of what you got, if you find the next Dangerfield or Bont what does it matter? I'm not so sure anymore I'm just tired of it all, tired of everyone hating our team so much it's hard work, rather just get a young gun and go about our business quietly, let everyone rip another team like GWS to shreds for the next 5 years ;)

meh,

this thread will set a record- amount of GC supporters i didnt realise existed being abused by Hawks supporters for not bowing down to a bullsh!t deal.....

His management surely tomorrow talks to other clubs, not sure where he has done medicals, but it will be clear by where he nominates where he wants to go (i.e. ND vs PSD). No one who hasnt done a medical is outta running for sure@!!!

2 horses left... surely burton/smith/shiels/bruest/sicily are on table now....i mean you mortgaged next year to get this done....

Why be "proud" if he goes back to GC........

Burton, Breust and Smith are surely not on the table. The hatred in this thread is disturbing.
The ND/PSD thing is interesting, it might set the tone for trades from now on.

As a neutral supporter I think that 10 and 48 given the cirumstances is not far off from being a true reflection of where he is worth. It's under but not significantly.

Whilst I can understand what Gold Coast are trying to do by being tough on the trade it is going to back fire on them. I can see JOM going to Hawthorn for nothing.

I also don't understand this thread. Gold Coast being praised by everyone for being tough yet 7 years ago everyone derided St Kilda for playing hard ball and losing Ball for nothing. We all know how well that worked out for them in the 2010 Grand Finals.

If I was a player looking to enter the draft I would consider this playing it tough stance to be a massive negative if I was to be drafted to Gold Coast. Who knows what will happen if I genuinely wanted to leave the club for various reasons. Would I need to sit out a year because the club decided that being tough is more important then looking after it's players.

If thats the attitude they want to bring to ther table then I am happy for them to lose their players for nothing.

Understand it's been a tough few days. Imagine if the whole football community hated your team for the last few years for supporting a club.
