Go watch some highlights of O'Meara - when fit he is a rolls Royce.

Hawks got Burgoyne right when his knee was dodgy.

If two first rounders (both likely to be late teens) and Hartung gets the deal done then Hawks have done good business. I don't think GC would accept that as they don't need picks.
This is elite level sport.
Clubs don't trade for players on a highlights package from 2 years ago.

Regardless of whether O'Meara kicked 150 goals in 2013 and won every award imaginable, he has not taken an AFL field for 2 years and still has an injury cloud hanging over his head.

Not sure how many times it can be explained to you that the O'Meara trade will take into account the risk he presents.

Sure, he may recover completely, but he may not too, and 2 first rounders plus a player is just not going to happen.

O'Meara is a potentially elite mid but hasn't played in two years and may never return to his early form. Hibberd is a very good half-back in his prime. Doesn't exactly sound like an 'amazing' difference.
Weird then that 5 clubs have expressed interest in JOM in the last 24 hours since his announcement.
6 clubs weren't chasing 27 year old half back flanker Hibberd.

Only the deluded would argue the two are similar in value.

So would you pay two top ten picks for O'Meara? That's the asking price.

Have to agree with you. I have no doubt he has met with several clubs and probably has a pretty good idea of where he wants to end up.
Unfortunately I don't think it's us
I'm fairly certain that he knows exactly where he wants to be right now, but he's got to be seen to be open to offers and other clubs.

If the club had confidence in his knee you would have to back him in.
Two first rounders would get it done IMO and that would be fair.
It's risk vs reward.

A 27 year old half back flanker whos going to be a 3-4 year contributor to a team doesn't have the same value of JOM.

I think we should just agree to disagree.

Isaac smith on his own with a first rounder is way overs. People on here trying very hard to downgrade hawthorn premiership stars but luckily hawks arent stupid.
Anyway, my intial tradeable option of 1st + hartung is gathering momentum.

GC are playing hard ball in the media because they know he is walking to Essendon. So when he walks they can say no one offered a respectful deal that we think is fair so we let him walk rather than us being held hostage and bent over.

As for Mckenna. What a load tripe. Really! JOM is looking for guaranteed money on a long term contract not tied to performance based kpi's. No club thats offering up picks and players will do that. Essendon can because its the only negative on the PSD pathway.

Also why would he go to any other team and handicap them by having them loose 2 picks and a player to get him.

If he was going to Essendon he'd have nominated them by now as they're not playing finals.

The fact Cochrane has suggested that he knows who the club is, but is keeping it to himself, suggests it's a finals side and he's been advised to keep it in house in the interests of getting a fair trade from the nominated club.

So, at best we rate hibberd a mid to late 1st but understand if he picks Melbourne it will be a second and a pick swap.
Not a single fan thinks he is worth 2, which is what you are saying jaeger is worth.
Your opinion of us as deluded seems a touch delusional

Possibly. The news is also a couple of days old and he probably has loose ends to tie up at the club.
Melbourne aren't playing finals. Hibberd is going there. No announcement. Most will wait until season is over or mad Monday is done. Esp if he is gonna go down the psd route

The poster I responded to rated JOM a late first/early second, the same as they rated Hibberd. Ridiculous you would value them the same.

Perhaps read back through the discussion before you comment on a single post.

He's been out the door for some time.

Don't be fooled by when the announcement of the request was made.

No offence to Hibberd, but he's not really the calibre of player who has hundreds of media types wanting to know where he'll play next year, so there's no pressure on him to make an announcement.
