I actually take no notice of Club Presidents and couldn't even tell you who ours was until this.
But l think you might be on the money.
The V8 thing is a far cry from the Countries most popular /professional sporting competition.
He was a tool before with V8's just as much as he is now. He wouldn't let the V8's race at Barbagallo in Perth until they had a multi-million dollar upgrade so Perth lost the V8's for a year or 2 until they came up with the cash to redevelop.

I cannot ******* believe how unprofessional and immature Cochrane and the Gold Coast have been in this situation.
The wording of the statement is ******* hilarious:

The club traded two first round selections to the GWS Giants to secure Jaeger as a 17-year-old, spent 12 months developing him prior to him being eligible to make his AFL debut, saw him impress on-the field in his first two seasons and have then spent the last two seasons investing time and resources into rehabilitating his knee following multiple surgeries with the club's utmost support.

O'Meara 'owes' Gold Coast, because they treated his knee.

Let that sink in for a minute. Your player was injured, playing for your club, and he 'owes' you because you treated the injury.

Why would Gold Coast threaten to send JOM to Pre-Season draft if they knew Bombers were right up in the talks..
The only reason they would threaten it is due to them knowing that he wants to get to Hawthorn and of all the clubs mentioned in the Jaeger conversation Hawthorn has the last draft pick therefore they are seen as the hardest for him to get to without being traded for what they see as adequate compensation. No chance they don't trade him....sending him to the draft negatively impacts nobody more so than their own footy club.

Oh what have you got to trade? Buckley's hope. Just because Jaeger's girlfriends daughter is the niece of a Pies player doesn't mean he'll go there... as girlfriends family are Hawk supporters.
Not about Tapping.

The leak has come from his manager.

Pies > Carlton > Essendon.

I dare say Hawks will enter formally after finals as well.

Judd wanted Pies initially too until Carlton upped the offer to WC and gave him the Visy deal, so really it doesn't mean a hell of a lot.

The player will go where the best deal is $$.

All it confirms is that Eade knows of the Hawks intent.

$$ nah, longtivity in the game. O'Meara is a business minded lad. Etihad will not help his knees.

That's absolutely true. He had chronic tendinitis in both kneecaps before the rupture at 19 years of age. I would think playing on grass covered concrete would be not a good idea. And trust me he is very nervous about his knees.

I think Hawks & Pies are in with a chance. The only thing I see hard for Pies is getting a trade done due to last year trade for Treloar.
Yeah I agree I'm not sure how we get the deal done either.

I'm also not sure we really are in "need" of another mid, but there are some strong rumours Degoey is on the trade table and if so then JoM may come into play.

ok, I just have to get this off my chest.

I cannot ******* believe how unprofessional and immature Cochrane and the Gold Coast have been in this situation. I don't know where O'Meara will end up, but really, it's also not even that relevant at the moment.

The facts are these: Gold Coast have acted like complete *******s over this situation. Complaining that they invested so much blood and treasure in O'Meara blah blah blah.

This is THE SAME CLUB that was more than happy to poach players from almost every other club in the league in their formative years. Players who the other clubs had invested FAR MORE in than GC have done so with O'Meara.

How exactly do GC think clubs felt losing players they'd invested so much in, of the calibre of:
  • Ablett
  • Rischitelli
  • Fraser
  • Brown, etc
and that's not even taking into account the knock on effects such as the inflationary pressure they put on all clubs lists.

And the very club who came into being with the imprimatur to pillage every other clubs lists for no cost to itself has the gall to sook and cry and act like this when it happens on a far smaller scale to them?!

The hypocrisy is astounding. Hey GC, at least you get the opportunity to trade for them. We can't just sign them up and laugh at you (well, maybe one of us can ;) ).

Your entire club is built on the hard work of other clubs. Shut the **** up and act like adults for chrissakes. Starting to become apparent why no-one wants to be there, isn't it. No mirrors at Gold Coast, clearly?
Yeah it's deadest stupid. Say what you want behind closed doors, publicly say thanks for your service and we will work with other clubs to get the best outcome.

Plus a first rounder? But you can't trade a first rounder this year?

This one is hard to assess price, it depends where the medical assessments fall. He could go for anything from a late first upwards.

Hard to see how he gets to the Pies considering their picks? Maybe this is where Witts comes into it but im sure plenty more would be required

Even privately it's not just say what you want - players have tremendous power to hurt a club - the good will they have is needed.

Can the Hawks hurry up and lose a final so he can nominate them, this shit is getting boring.
Yep everything seems to be pointing in their direction. Cochrane said he 'had a fair idea' where Jaeger wants to go. So based on his tirade and the threat of the PSD, you would assume it's not Essendon.

Despite their dominance, I doubt Hawthorn's cap is bursting. Their high paid stars are mostly over 30. Brad Hill looks to be leaving, which should net a decent pick in return. So they'll have the Hill pick, a 2016 first rounder & a 2017 first rounder to enter into negotiations.

Could be way off the mark though. Maybe he is going to Essendon and Cochrane is just a goose.
