Six decades of domination
ITK on our board are suggesting one of GWS late 1st rounders with Hawthorn paying most of the salary.

Probably a shuffling of picks as well.

Maybe not, but GWS are losing 2 prime inside midfielders and are going to get belted on the inside unless they get an immediate replacement.

Ward isn’t far off retirement either.

Could be a decent pick up for a few years.
Tom Green, Coniglio, Josh Kelly is a very good starting trio.
Toby Greene can play midfield, Callaghan (former pick 3) gets games. GWS will be fine.

I've never been a big JOM fan, but he guided our young side through a lot of the season with the captain out and played some important footy, albeit as a half forward/mid.

If he's unleashed for more midfield minutes alongside Cogs, Kelly and Green it will benefit the Giants who are losing Hopper and Taranto.

He could play another 3-4 solid seasons which is more than I can say confidently about Callan Ward.

Not a bad addition in theory for GWS

Rumours of O'Halloran coming back to us in the trade is a win for us also.

Only Green is a pure inside mid of those 3.

GWS need at least one more brute at the stoppages and they missed Hopper a fair bit this season.

Callaghan will likely continue playing outside roles until he’s ready to play at the stoppages permanently.

Massive win for Hawks if it happens

We have a couple of F/S next year so loading up on future picks makes sense.

Given we havent traded in big names I assume we are a couple of years from finals so trading out makes sense.

OMeara will be a loss but SMitchell were playing him forward and TMitchell back this year because he wanted a different midfield structure. An F1 would be pretty good. Especially if GWS have another terrible year.

Should have kept taranto, salary dumped Haynes salary ( with pick 21 we had at beginning of trade period).
Surely Kingsley doesn't want to get O'Meara

If the trade happens you’ll get 3-4 years out of him and his presence helps protect the younger inside mids and allows their development to be managed properly. He also adds from a leadership POV.

Similar situation to Melbourne bringing Bernie Vince across for a few years (for a similar pick), just in a different role.
