Jaeger O'Meara whats he worth?

I haven't gone through this whole thread, but would you guys be interested in Craig Moller. A 200+cm athletic ruckman who is from NSW. We could throw Kepler into the deal as well. We don't have anything else that would get the job done

If Moller draft eligible this year? NSW scholarship players can't be part of a trade other than as a "gentleman's agreement" where they don't sign him on to their list and instead GWS picks him as a zone selection. Fairly hazard prone and probably not realistic (and I'm not even sure if it's possible).

Have GWS taken him ?
If so they could decide not to and just take him the next year with their first pick presuming they finish last
Nail on head for mine, there's no reason that they should take all of the top talent from the next draft when they could skip the number 1 guy and more than likely take him next year. (provided they want him)

To do that we'd have to trade away no draft picks at all this year. Given we'd get a lot more for offering up one or two this year and the balance next year (because we'd be selling players 1 & 2 in both years, as opposed to players 1-4 next year) I don't think just a chance at O'Meara is necessarily going to be worth it.

If I was running GWS and he was as good as they say, I would consider holding onto him (in the likelihood GWS get first pick the following year) and trading away four others. There are up to 4/28 players that can be traded this year and if not this year, then the following. I think GWS are getting a far bigger leg up than GCS did and already GCS look like they are going to be a force in a couple of seasons.

I will be stunned if they get a Gary Ablett/Tom Scully type deal on these kids, they are still another season out and clubs are going to still want to stand off a little. Jumping the gun and giving up the house for a kid who should be a gun, but might not be could be disastrous if it back fires

Did you read my post immediately before your's?

Here it is again:

We trade draft picks, the player who the receiving club takes is up to the club.

Wonder if Zac Clarke would be sufficient to secure the first pick. The talk of Goddard etc seems unrealistic. If not the first, maybe the second pick. I can't think of a better youngster which might be offered up. These trades often end up a lot simpler than people make out.

I'm not here to debate whether that'd get it done or not but honestly it'd be madness for us to do that. Quality young midfielders can be found at any stage of the draft, even in the rookie draft while quality young ruckmen who have shown massive potential are much, much harder to come by.

As good as O-Meara sounds (and I believe he is somewhat overhyped) there's no way we should even consider such a trade. Sandilands and Clarke IMO have the potential to be one of the best ruck duos in the league, and despite Griffin being good insurance, when Sandi retires in 3-5 years we will (hopefully) have a dominant ruckman to assume his place.

What would our two compo picks plus M. Warnock get us?

I think that would be pretty competitive for the first pick considering the flexibility of the picks... as well as the fact almost no clubs will be looking at offering premium talent.

It would certainly trump GC's pick 4.

No where. They are after a player "in your top 7 players" at the club. They are not after picks.

Hense where the flexibility comes in to play.

The can use them any time over the next 5 drafts.

I'm pretty sure it would be better than most offers for the second pick in the mini draft, Crouch is a player well worth looking at.

If GWS were smart they'd take it, better than a couple of list cloggers from Freo or WC and it looks like GC want to trade pick 4 for a forward (Tippett)

Would Melbourne offer that much though?

I think so, with extra elite mid talents in O'Meara and Viney potentially coming to the club it definitely gives our recruiters a bit more freedom in terms of picking to 'complete' the list.

Warnock will leave either way.

And most clubs will give up pick 11 and another mid range first rounder for the chance to secure a probable top 3 pick.

Would be a very good offer for the first mini draft pick if you're talking about the Scully compensation picks and Warnock!

We'll be after superstars/compo picks with this mini draft

We get some GREAT compo picks for the future drafts! And we get a solid defender in Warnock (Which expirenced defenders will be useful in the first few years). While we won don't get a superstar, we get a great deal out of it.

Rumour on our board is Foley could be traded for one. Sounds as if u guys have given us a good offer and we have told him to go think about it. Dunno if it's for a 2011 draft pick or a mini-draft pick. Imagine mini-draft pick seems i heard u had asked about him along with our top 4 players (cotch, lids, jack, dusty) for the mini-draft.

It's pretty common sense.

What club wouldn't be able to outbid Foley easily for pick one in the mini-draft?

not yours thats for sure..

Who would you be willing to give up thats better than foley ? no body.. go away you know nothing

To GWS followers Foley would be great for you guys and he would be missed at punt rd :thumbsu: would take a mini draft pick for us to let him go

One of Melbourne's Scully compo picks is better than Foley.
