Jaeger O'Meara whats he worth?

except this isnt a normal trade, this is a trade that gws MUST DO, so highest bidder wins basically doesnt matter the price unlike normal trades where u can just say no

They don't HAVE to. They can hold the picks until next year if the offers are too low. But I don't think the clubs are going to offer anything that GWS would consider too low because they're a lot more realistic and would fall in a middle ground between GiantForce (O'Meara's the second coming of Jesus) and yourself (GWS has to take what's offered). :D

it would be very bad for them in the long run if they held onto all their picks, and they really cant. That means there first season they have no mature age players they might get outa the mini draft and be an embarrassment, they gotta get something this year. Also because having 4 picks to give away next year leaves them in a very bad position barginning wise, and will no doubt have to hand them out for much lower than if they did 2 and 2. So yea it's in their best interest to give 2 and 2 to maximise what they get out of it, and there not stupid, thats what they'll do.

So realistically clubs are gonna pay well below what O'meara is actually worth... unless this turns into an all in bidding war, where some clubs will overpay perhaps and leave their fans screaming as they lose marquee players for a kid they have heard nothing about and cant play for over 12 months. Whilst theres a chance of that happen, i doubt it very much.

It would put us in a bad postion.....but were just saying we don't have to trade them this year.

I can us see doing a 2/2 spilt. We will certainly do atleast one this year (Jag O'Meara).

i could see a deal being done for 1st/2nd pick for some comp of buckley/goldsack/caffer/carthy/wood/wellingham.. would be good for both clubs however really depends how desperate clubs like freo are to get him.

Maybe even Dick/Brown could be on the table, particulary brown would be great for GWS if he got his body right.

his probably WORTH thomas but will only get something like that.

You can rule out Wellingham or Brown. Neither will be offloaded.

Also, he is NOT worth Thomas! Seriously, WTF?!?!?

if we werent in a premiership window he is, u obv havnt heard the raps on his guy?... hasnt one recruiter said he'll deff win at least one brownlow? might be paraphrasing or misread.. but his gonna be huge and got more years ahead of them than thomas, so to a club like richmond their prob even value (all though not to us as we want current success)

IMO GWS will want a lot, but it will come down to who has the best comp of young fringe mature age bodies to give. Lets not forget GWS HAVE to give away these picks, so there not in a great barginning position if clubs keep turning down their ridiculas offers.

Summary - he is a star and will win a brownlow, but no club should offer much, so your club can get him with a couple of fringe players?

And Tom Swift was the best junior footballer to ever grace the Earth, how is he looking now?

Big difference between potential and actual output.

He obviously is a great junior talent but lets not go overboard with the hysteria and over exaggerations.

im just stating what i think will happen, and i stated a couple of fringe players is below his value but whats whats needed to get him most likely.

Yeah 2 knee recos really helped Swift...........
While injuries can happen to anyone.....2 knee recos happening in unlikely.

Plus you forgetting to mention all the superstars of today who were superstars as kids! Sure there is a select few who don't turn out to be. But majority of talented juniors turn out to be talented in the big time

They are all talented though, this is why they get drafted. If they were no good they wouldn't be drafted.

The majority do not turn out to be superstars in the big time. In fact it is the opposite. Very few go on to become superstars at the elite level. The stats back this up.

Hey, don't get me wrong, O'Meara may join the elite group over his career but as it stands, right now, he is not worth a top quality player in exchange from any club.

When I say the majority of talented juniors turn out to be talented in the big time. I mean the best of the best youngsters. Which O'Meara will almost certainly is.

Just look at the top few draft picks over the last while (Still too early to do anything like 2007, 2008, 2009, etc)

2000 - Riewoldt, Kozi, Didak
2001 - Hodge, Ball, Judd
2002 - Goddard, Wells, Brennan
2003 - Cooney, AWalker, Sylvia
2004 - Deledio, Roughead, Griffen
2005 - Murphy, Thomas, Ellis
2006 - Gibbs, Gumbleton, Hansen

Most are now decent players in the AFL, with majority now stars in todays game.

Dud - Gumbleton Hansen ellis kozi roughhead.
Good (non star) - Ball brennan wells Walker Slyvia
Star - Riewoldt didak goddard cooney deledio murphy thomas gibbs.

only 8/18 are stars, so if ur losing logic u would sayyou have just under 50% ur pick becoming a grade elites, however O'meara is touted higher than perhaps most there, so his % probably climbs higher however deffinitly not close to 100%

Would offer Foley & Compo & Fringe player out of Tuck/Jackson/Connors/Morton/Thursfield/McGuane/Ruckman for the first pick.

Any of the other picks take out one of Foley or compo. Would still give one of them though. I think Richmond need one more A-grade talent which O'Meara will be. Everyone comparing him to Swift is kidding themselves. Swift was regarded as a gun 2 years from his draft not one. And hadnt played footy for 2 years before his draft so even in a minidraft situation he wouldn't have played for the whole previous year so wouldn't fetch what O'Meara was worth.

Lol u conveniently left out Judd, Hodge and Griffen all in the star category and Roughead a dud? Wtf?

So let me get this straight.

You think a guy that kicked 75 goals in a Premiership year and who has kicked over 50 goals a season every year since until cut down with injury this year.

Whi can also pinch hit in the ruck and be a very very effective clearance player.

Is a dud?

You sir are a *******.

yeah. Roughead and Kozi in the dud cateorgy? wtf?

Apart from Gumby, Hansen and Ellis...the other 18 are good players with 11 of them "stars".

Blaze, if you try and use stats for your argument....make sure you get them right

I don't rate Kosi but he is hardly a dud. I'd take Roughead over Didak everyday though. Roughead is a gun.

Geelong have the compo pick from Ablett left, it is the pick after your first round pick. It has not been ruled by the AFL that if we were to trade it, if it would be after the recipient's pick or ours. If it was after the recipient's then it would essentially be pick 2 for GWS (As they will most likely come last) or pick 3 if they come second last. This is much better than what Geelong would get for it so they would be willing to part with it.

I think this pick and MAYBE a decent player from Geelong would be enough to secure the number one pick in the mini draft. It would appeal greatly to both clubs, Geelong gets a gun, GWS gets another really high pick in what is set to be a gun draft. If they were to do this deal I could also see them only trading one 17 year old this, to ensure they have the full talent available to them next year.

Just an idea.

I'd call Kozi a dud, no 2 pick who just hasn't delivered, injurys probably havn't helped though.

Not sure the Pies will even bother with this, unless someone wants to move to WS and then that player would need to be of quality for us to be a chance of a decent pick, we have a few NSW scholarship boys but i doubt very much they'd be of the quality WS are looking for (except for Witts of course), he would get us the no1 pick no doubt but there'd be a Riot down at Pieland if he went.

O'Meara is significantly more valuable than Witts

Hines reckons Witts would go top 10 this year, he's been good for us as a KF, considering Jag can't play until 2013 i think that goes someway to close the value gap, he's also a NSWs boy.

Witts would be top 15 in my opinion and Jagear would be number 1 or 2 in this draft and number 1 in the next
