To be fair, we're all looking in from the outside.

I'm a fan of Occam's razor if I'm speculating. Forget the speculation re VFL finals, AFL finals (or not), senior game time (or not)... Put simply, he has been picked. You have to assume that JOM and the club have full confidence in his body.

From the reports I've read, on the weekend he looked like it too.
was there. he was good, but the first half was pedestrian in terms of pressure. so he's had a decent quarter hit out.
Hoping he gets through ok and rebounds for another game the week after.

Just here to post my congratulations for the huge rehab effort from Jags. I know my post will get lost in the sea of posts from neutral fans who love to see a player triumph over adversity, but thought I should post anyway.

This may backfire on me but we are only playing Carlton. They aren't known as a high pressure team

You are understating the rehab effort.
Had to have two new legs attached the way Bigfooty has been carrying on over the last couple of months.
Watching the VFL game last week between Essendon VFL and Box Hill Hawks he seemed to be very confident in his body.

What?

There was heaps of pressure in that game. It was windy and scrappy and there was no space. I can't remember anyone taking a bounce.

And he got at least 3 free kicks in the first half off the ball, and was being shoved and dumped and tested by the oppo.

Wasn't AFL standard, but there was far far far less pressure in the Hawks v Roos game on Sunday.

big risk that it doesn't. underdone players will breakdown. And this kid isn't exactly blessed. May be great for his confidence if he gets through. Will be disastrous if he doesn't.
Another VFL hit out and a Rd23 cameo wouldn't have hurt.
I agree that another week in the vfl would've been better, then round 23.
but he has apparently been 'training the house down' for the last 4 weeks so lets hope for the best.

must say wish it wasn't on the Etihad stadium

I agree with this. I saw him get an awkward tackle/knock and literally thought to myself I hope he hasn't done any damage. Glad he was managed for the third quarter and nothing more, as we wouldn't have won if he didn't.

What the hell are you on?? He played 3 qtrs of footy in the VFL and had 30 touches and 3 goals. The VFL is just the next level below the ultimate, don't dismiss it like he was playing 6th grade ammo's FFS.

Just as much chance of being injured at vfl level as he is at afl level - what happens, happens and if it does then being a player down at this time of the year with no expectation of finals, really makes it, a no big deal

Come on Jaeger! Hopefully he can get through unscathed.

All eyes on Bennell and JOM this weekend. One returning from the longest rehab in history and the other rising from the dead

Kind of agree, but if he's right to go, he's right to go I guess.

He has been literally doing preseason training the last 7 or 8 weeks. He is right to go. There is no point holding him in the Vfl when he can play AFL. It will give him the confidence to attack preseason training all guns blazing

Yeah that's true, would be a lot of anxiety for him doing another preseason wondering if his body can handle AFL.

So the medical experts on BF spent the last 4 months telling us he will never play again, and now they are doubling down and saying he should play VFL.

Sorry guys, but Im going to continue trusting the doctors and fitness staff at Hawthorn for now.
That's because they're
