That is true as Hawthorn's team yesterday averages 26 years and 4 months which means O'Meara was under the Hawthorn average.

Not withstanding a statistical outlier in 35yo Burgoyne, this does nothing to prove that JOM is anything other than within average age range.

You can create your own personal definitions of young or old if you want. Mine are fairly objective.

Half the players in the competition aren't playing, bit of a silly way of looking at it. Nearly every best 22 team averages out at 25, just turning 24 is not the middle part of most players careers.

According to the AFLPA, the average career length is 6 years. Obviously this is due to reasons other than age (poor form etc).

But if you just want to consider those who 'really' make it. Most people would consider 200 games a pretty good career. Going at an average of 20 games per year from 20-30, then I would say that 24 is the middle part of most careers.

He’s building, development affected by injuries, just needs to string 4 good quarters together . Maybe he won’t ever be the player he could of/would of been, which is a shame, but played what 14 games in 4 years, that would stagger anyone progression.

Exactly. Good example is Fyfe last year had a pretty slow burn just getting his body right and was more about getting games in the bent before you worried about his output.

Happy Omeara has played every game this season and has had some good games. Has had to average games with one being Friday. More then happy with that
