Well things have not gone according to plan and it looks like instead of being a master stroke it was hubris of the highest order that led Clarko to believe recruiting JOM was a good idea. I think it's fair that non-Hawthorn supporters should be allowed to comment on something that has backfired in this spectacular manner.

Because he is a high profile get and thus injuries are a talking point? He is hardly unique in this case. When Fyfe got injured it generated discussion; now just imagine if Fyfe joined up with the saints next year and then gets injured again. That would be tenfold

En masse? Lol, we have 70k members and several hundred thousand supporters but you think a few flogs on Bigfooty is en masse?

They never even expected him to play the first few months, he is a long term project. Yes it was a big risk which I personally wouldn't have taken, but to call it a spectacular backfire so early just reeks of bitterness. Look at it in 5 years time and make a call then.

Translation: I so so hope that O'Meara doesn't work out for the Hawks, and I badly badly hope that the Hawks don't bob up and start winning mulltiple flags again, because the relentless success they have had over the last 50 years eats me up inside.

Hawthorn are dedicating over $1m of their salary cap over at least the next two years to Vickery and O'Meara. That's a fair chunk for not much return so far. O'Meara is a long game thing sure, but the Jack Watts defence still applies. There's a cut off point where O'Meara becomes a net loss. 4 years of great footy after not much footy in 2017 would be fine, but if it's 3, 4 years before he's any good or he never comes good then it's a huge bust.

They didn't even expect him to play the first few months ffs, he wasn't expected to fire a shot this year! Comments like yours are so ill informed and bitter. It was a long term project, ease him back into footy and hopefully he turns into a gun in the next year or so. Judge it after a few years.
