Jaeger O'Meara

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

He has missed 3 years of footy and has only played 58 games. Are people seriously writing him off after only 8 games back? Fyfe was more developed and missed no where near as long but still took a while to get back to his best footy. Now look at him, he is dominating games and looking pretty close to his 2015 form which is still one of the highest peaks of individual form i have ever seen.

Now i am not claiming Jaeger is going to be reaching that sort of form or anything, but how about giving him more then 8 games before claiming he is nothing more than average.
Dont think anybody is writing him off but more being realistic about what he may be able to achieve at the afl level given his consistent run of injuries
He has 58 games to now and i said if he gets to 200 games he would have done well and i thought that was being generous

This is his 2nd year at the hawks and whilst he has done some things that are good, I dont think he will ever get to the heights that were expected
What i have seen from him so far is nothing that will get to Dustin Martin , Dangerfield or Fyfe type levels
Just a Good player

Nice rewriting of history.

Well, you re-wrote Jed's.

Gibson didn't like sacrificing his role for the team, wanted to be a loose man in defense type instead of Laidley playing him up the ground. The Hawks gave him that.

I did nothing of the sort. He’s reiceved an unfavorable exit interview. His response was to look elsewhere. We did not stand in his way.

Oh please. Hawthorne and O'Meara are separate entities. It's entirely reasonable to be hugely sympathetic to O'Meara whilst still bring critical of the Hawthorne hubris that lead them to make the decisions they did.

In fact that same hubris lead them to playing O'Meara in meaningless preseason games almost as if to validate the trade.

And as for the supporters, well, many of them gleefully posted pics of Jaeger running in preseason as validation themselves, and many will not believe for a second their coach and club are at all fallible and will not even consider that the messages their club are giving them is nothing but spin.

Jaeger deserved better than to be fast tracked into a situation it seems he wasn't ever right for
30 possessions, 8 tackles last night

This Hawthorn hubris makes me sick.

The really good games from Jaeger are starting to occur closer together. He is still inconsistent though but I am pretty happy with how he’s going.

He still has that strength and explosive speed which was going to be the biggest question mark, he will still have some quieter weeks at times this year but he is on an upward trajectory. He should hopefully be ready to be a top player for us week in week out by the start of next year.

What if the if isn’t as big as you thought - as if ay?

Seriously? 30 possessions? That's your new definition of success? One game with relatively average stats and you make out as though it's some kind of blinder?

****ing lol. How the mighty have fallen when this guy thinks a 30 possession game somehow rubs peoples noses in having Omeara. #hawthornhubris ain't what it used to be.

Let's check his disposals over the last 5 games:

Yeah man, having 30 touches once in over a month after an average of under 20 for the same period. #superstar.

I reckon he might be in the top 80 percentile with those numbers! Boy you showed us.

Reminiscent of your performance after you guys beat an insipid essendon. All over the Hawthorn comeback thread like the next flag was in the bag. Let's hope this one doesn't backfire as badly as that embarrassing performance did, for Jaeger's sake eh

It’s a lot more than zero which is how many you get when you can’t get on the field

Boy, so you're rubbing peoples faces in the fact that he is... on the park.

That has to be the lowest bar I've ever seen. Jeez, congrats man.

Let's hope your rampant triumphalism about a guy simply playing, and playing basically mediocre footy, doesn't jinx him. Not sure what you're even thinking frankly.

Has a higher disposal average than Ohh Ahh

Oh I see. So you've given up on Burton being better than McGrath and now desperately hoping your high price once in a generation big fish one day ends up more than 2 touches a game better than a guy 5 years younger than him.

That Hawthorn hubris really has disappeared

Give it up Lance, you are showing a 'Trumpian' grasp of reality. Both lads are tracking well and we are very happy with the deals we made to get them.

Well Burton was in the draft the year before. Not relevant to my point about Jaegar’s choice. He said no to Windy Hill in spite of the red carpet that was being rolled out

But in terms of how much footy at any level either had played in the last three years I think Andy had a bit more on Jaegar. Not sure why his disposal rate compares so badly.

Incidentally Jaegar hasn’t ever been as low as 19.5 over all his seasons - including his (deserved) Rising Star year

Burton’s better than mcgrath so we don’t need to revisit that. I don’t think there’s a single hawthorn supporter who would trade either burton or omeara for mcgrath. Essendon supporters on the other hand would be champing at the bit to get their hands on one of those two

Sure, that 21 disposal average is just so amazing. Did you know he's now had one 30 possession game for the year?!!

And as for Burton it must be midnight, as he's turned back into a pumpkin
