And this is why the AFL can do what they do.

Supporters of teams/players that do dodgy things, would rather it go away and move onto something else.

This scandal, it's Collingwood supporters. Drugs sage it was Essendon. It'll happen again with the next scandal. People are too subjective and emotional.
Make no mistake come September, Stephenson will be made a hero out of all of this.

The AFL love a great redemption story.

I did a rough multi on my board of what that multi would have equated to had he won betting the amount that he did.

It worked out to be a ~$10k winfall. Thats why the AFL wont release the bet, because saying $36 makes it sound like a small little mistake whereas winning a $10k multi would have most people questioning if he tried to fix a game.

Love to see your calculations of a $12 same game multi paying $10,000... that would imply a bet placed at odds of about 830 to 1... like to see how you arrive at that number... how many legs?

It was based on the alleged legs he had in a same game multi that he had in his bet.

Knock yourself out on Sportsbet, its not that had to come up with a bet of the legs that he had said he had in a multi to reach~ $1000:1

Im sure its easier for the AFL to sell to the public a small $36 wager than a bet paying $1000s.

It’s hard to say what the payout would have been, but I don’t think he is far off the mark. I can tell you it wasn’t a payout amounting to a couple hundred quid.
So I’ve done a very, very quick estimate using the North Melbourne game as a model for a multi, just because the line, margin, goal scorer markets would have been similar to the St Kilda game.
So for this example I’ve taken Collingwood to win, Collingwood by 20-39, Reid to kick 3+ goals (very similar odds as to what Stevo would have been, around $3), now let’s say he bet on Mihocek and Josh Thomas for 2+, and let’s say he took Varcoe to kick a goal, finally if we take Pendles & Treloar to get 30+ disposals.
This 8 leg multi nets odds of @1001.
Now I know this is a very rough estimate, but it includes all the legs that they claim he used. Something like this wouldn’t be far off the kind of multi he put on.

There you go Grotto haha

Thanks champ much appreciated.:thumbsu:

I actually did post something very similar to what you said. I find staggering and almost bewildering how the AFL sold this to the public as a $36 wager and never have publicly disclosed the bet and what the exact legs in each bet were. Its obvious as to why as it was better optics to say it was less than $50 than to say the kid was trying to win several grand.

You would well know, $36 wager over several bets can payout very well especially when you can manufacture the result yourself. :drunk:

Im not having a go at him because he is a Pies player, I would have been addressing the same issues if it was a Crows player. Its rather irrelevant now in any case, he gets to rest up and get himself ready for September Finals.

What a time for a young AFL player to be alive. Bet on the footy and play finals in September.

Transparency and the AFL are another 2 words that don't go together.
I'm not sure anybody at AFL house knows the meaning of the words transparency or integrity.
AFL have been open, honest and transparent. There was a gambling issue which they swept under the rug and the Integrity Unit is satisfied.

Shows how bad Donald Trump is for him to bankrupt a casino.

I think I'm right in saying that Trump himself has gone bankrupt 4 times. which might explain his business acumen or lack of it. Hence that's why he doesn't like enquiries into his business dealings or where he has got his money from in the past.

So a player has his team to win within a certain margin range in his bet and then takes a low percentage option as a shot on goal late in the game instead of passing it off and because it happens to go in we are supposed to think this exonerates said player from being a spot fixer. What he did in attempting the torp is EXACTLY what someone who wanted to balance winning a bet with their plausible deniability of not being a spot fixer would do. Make an honest attempt at a goal that you would not normally get instead of playing the percentages and passing to a teammate in a better position. Just LOL at anyone stupid enough to buy the narrative being pushed. Whole thing stinks.

Yup all we can hope for is that one day the real story comes out. Until then whenever we play Collingwood me and my group are gonna start a Multiboy chant in the crowd. Lets see if the dozen or so of us can make this a thing. Lol.

You know it’s bad whenever anyone ‘self reports ‘

It basically means it’s too large for the AFL to keep it covered up.
But it takes moral courage

Wow, Collingwood really turned to shit once the AFL found out their players were betting on the matches!!! They'll need Stevo to be a little bit more "TIGHT LIPPED" about his multis if they make the finals from here!!!

So I’ve just found out the truth behind the story and it’s interesting to know what’s covered up etc.

So Jaidyn was using his mates phone to bet and he was overheard by Howe talking to his mate about the bets.
Howe said own up or I’ll tell them.

He never confided in Howe at all and they aren’t exactly on speaking terms.
The thanks Howe gets for saving his career, which by the end will be millions of dollars, is the cold shoulder.

He is young and dumb but those around him should be convincing him that Howe did him a very big favour.
