I’d take him into the VFL program, a solid 6-12 months proving he has a new and improved attitude then we can talk…

Kid has talent, attitude/application was always the problem. At 26 though it’s probably last chance saloon and he’d need to be ready and willing for a VFL stint. If not, instant pass.
If he’s lucky a club will invite him to train with them over the pre-season, overlook him when SSP signings are lodged and invite him to join their reserve team regardless of how well he goes across a pre-season. A more probable pathway is he needs to go to a Port Melbourne or Frankston and have a ripping 2026 before getting back into the frame.

Betcha no club invites him to train. There would be players at every vfl club who present a better SSP trial option than Jaidyn.

Can only imagine how out of shape he would be right now? Was lazy when he was in the system.

He was lazy enough to win the rookie of the year in his first year. Maybe he got lazy after that. Who knows

Would you take back a fresh minded jaidyn Stephenson

If the club thought it was a good idea, sure, why not? I trust that they know what they’re doing.

Could it happen? Sure, he wouldn’t be the first player to come back.

Would Collingwood do it? Again, he wouldn’t be the first player we’ve taken back.

Do I think it will happen at Collingwood? No.

It comes down to this - These days Collingwood recruit winners, and is Jayden Stephenson a winner? I don’t think so.

IMO, Jaidyn is one of those people who does dumb things, but is not dumb. He ran rings around club leaders (Buckley, Walsh) when he was being traded out of Collingwood - he made them look like fools at the time. He has oodles of talent. But there is something that gets in the way of him being a winner.

List spots too tight to see this ever eventuating at Collingwood. Tassie Devils might be his only option although there are clubs desperate for small-medium forwards.

If his only option is getting picked up by a team coached Nathan Buckley, I’d say his chances of returning to AFL are screwed.

North had him playing defence.

North had him playing defence.

It was Hine who initially drafted him, guess where he’s now working. Would also get that year of VFL under his belt before senior team relevance becomes an issue. Buckley hasn’t been appointed yet and won’t coach their VFL side.

Has that running defender potential as well but it’s as a small-medium forward where he made his name.

Most people saying no, but at this point what have we got to lose.

People change and mature. If he can still play and they can get him on a nothing contract then why not. If things don't work out just play him in the VFL. 1 year contract only. And at the end of the day if we don't get anything out of next year we're going into a rebuild anyway so it's no loss if it fails.

Maybe I'm an optimist but I see past scenarios that people were in much worse situations than him such as Andrew Krakeour and Marlion Pickett.. guys that were in jail, and have had successful careers.. hell even Ben Cousins was a full blown meth head and ended up at Richmond and even now is somehow in the media as if nothing happened.

For Jaidyn Stephenson to have any realistic chance of returning to an AFL club list, he would need to deliver consistently strong performances in the VFL and position himself as a candidate for a mid-season rookie selection.

He's extremely toxic to culture and just a terrible player now who is scared of any sort of contest.

If he was serious about getting back he'd be tearing up the VFL right now... what's he doing?

100% I would

He's 25

I'd be shocked if he hasn't matured and learned a shit tonne of lessons between the time he was booted from Collingwood and now
