Why are people using the Ryder trade as evidence of Essendon being difficult to deal with? Port were being greedy and were trying to get Gorringe as well, right up until the deadline. Remember when Gorringe had a big cry to the media when it didn't eventuate?

It's a reputation gained by Essendon via Dodoro.

It's almost become a truism of sorts. Even the media play up on it quite a bit.

I thought Hurley was older than 25. But it is hard to argue with your statement.
Hurley's 1 draft prior to Carlisle.

Has shown to be a better player so far mainly through competitiveness, effort and intensity. If you put Hurley's heart in Jake's body you'd have the best KPP in the comp by a long way.

He potentially could be - his 2013 form showed the signs.

At this stage Hurley is better, and I was surprised he is only year older than Jake.
Carlisle doesn't quite have the speed and agility to be the ultimate defender. His kicking is also a fair way behind Hurley's, not that it's terrible. He does have one of the best pair of hands in the league though. Even in the first half of 2013 he didn't lock down opponents amazingly well (regularly conceded 3+ goals) but his marking is awesome and he can control a game.

Was it? I don't know but you can't mention Essendon without someone saying.........."Oh, they're so hard to deal with".......Wait until Trade Radio fires up :)
The Scott West trade was a big contributor. Ess wooed West and allegedly had him considering his options.

And guess what??

It was 2004 and Dodoro and Sheedy allegedly lodged paperwork asking for West. Their offer? A 2nd rd pick and Darren Welsh (who they delisted that yr).

And from there Dodoro's power to frustrate, insult and make club's burst out laughing grew....
