Just listening to Beveridge on SEN and he insinuated that Bulldogs can't get to talk to him. Currently on holidays but mainly because it seems the manager is more interested in talking money with clubs first before any conversations with the player regards fit.

Would indicate best salary gets him.

We won't offer more than other teams and if that's his character I doubt Beveridge would go much further with him.
I think the Saints will offer him the most money, they seem so desperate to get him, covering all media avenues and basically on their knees begging.

His manager has made it clear he doesn't want to leave melbourne.
Mitch Clark was going home too until Melbourne waived a giant chequebook at him.

Money talks - although it sounds like the Saints will throw the biggest & longest offer to him.

I dont get what the argument is about.. A list manager trying to get more for a player than he ends up getting? Should he accept whatever is first offered to be nice to everyone? I dont like essendon as much as anyone else but cmon stop flogging the same argument for 100 pages. Its his job to try get the best deal for the club
If you like, you can go back to every thread ever made about a trade involving an Essendon player and read 100 pages of the same shite by the same ******ed trolls about how Essendon can’t be dealt with and they’re gonna get the player for free.

It’s not tiresome at all.

Because they have been smart with their contracts and have the cash to spend. Good on them.
Lol begging...

Get a grip son
Nothing against it at all, just from an outsiders perspective, seems you're putting your hand on the table for everyone to see, perhaps trying to scare off other clubs, or get the attention of Jake that you REALLY want him.

If you have the cap space, you have the cap space - that part is fine - I would assume the Saints have 105% of the cap space to use this year so would probably base his contract around that.

If the rumors are true and his first preference is Carlton, but we offer him 100k less, will be interesting to see what unfolds.

Why do you say that?

Haven't the Dogs' last two acquisitions been Crameri and Boyd, with huge offers thrown at both?
Yet we've re-signed every young gun since then.
As usual, BF nuffies know SFA. We can 105% next year and have spent years struggling to 95%, so will heavily front load next year

Big call. Early call.

Boyd will be fine - think he will end up a better player than McCartin.
I'm not saying he won't be a good player, but we aren't paying McCartin over $1million a year. What I meant was that it may already be affecting the possibility of getting others to the club.

I think you missed the point.

Absolutely no doubt that we (Carlton) are in the box seat for Carlisle.

The question remains as to if he fits our needs? We have Weitering in waiting as a bankable (as close as)
gun KPD, to add to "old stagers" Jamison and Rowe. Jaksch was also recruited as a KPD, and we are strongly
linked to Plowman from GWS as a classic 3rd tall type. Our window is a distance off, so do we need to
target "elite" talent at this stage?

Carlisle would improve any list in the competition, but has the WADA shadow and a public desire to play
in defence. His best fit for us would be up forward predominantly.

Does not want to go interstate and I dare say Geelong or even Seaford may be deemed too far to travel.
Bulldogs are going to have salary cap issues, as well as a double jeopardy WADA risk with Crameri.

Surely if we want him we get him. Dodoro might be a difficult one to deal with, but with PSD threat, our
second rounder (20) would most likely suffice. Perhaps Henderson could be convinced to go to Bombers,
but seems to be set on Geelong.

I don't believe he is essential to our future, but SOS and Bolts will need to do due diligence to this one.

I think Beveridge just blew any chance of Carlisle going to the dogs. Regardless if its true its all about money. You don't go and say it on radio. Wherever he goes he will buy into the club. He's on holiday and its not even in the trade period. Give it a spell Beveridge. You need him more than he needs you!.

Wow what a different take. As an employer I reckon we are well within our rights (and makes absolute common sense) to meet with a potential employee before committing to an offer.

Imagine the uproar if JC spat the dummy at his new club and it emerged they didn't even meet with him to conduct basic due diligence before offering him a massive long term contract?

Oh and hope Mitch Clark works out for the Catters.

Yes I agree with that but no need to come out with that attitude towards the whole thing. Should have waited for him to come back first, he would have meet with the dogs soon enough. Maybe now he won't bother I don't know.
Like wise, Boyd

Why is Carlton in the box seat?
Because he says so.

And not necessary? Having a laugh, he'd walk in and become the best KPP in the joint, if not the best player.
Not necessary? ........because of where we are at
Best KPP in the joint?......... undoubtedly

Has some character question marks, which I am not addressing as they are questions I do
not have the answers to. Due diligence is required. There have been some issues at our club which
I am confident Bolton will address quickly. They relate to development, attitudes, required effort etc.
Does Carlisle bring something to the "culture" or is he going to be an entitled prescence not displaying
the values which need to be engrained in our young group?

Why are so many posters/supporters unable or unwilling to address the big picture, not just the
bleeding obvious in front of your nose?
