can't do that for an out of contract player
You can actually, Essendon gets Carlisle to sign a new contract, so that he is contracted. Then trade a contracted Carlisle to the Hawks.

Carlisle would need to know that the trade would go through though.

You just need to be creative.

I think it might head that way. If i'm the dons I offer to pay part of Jake's contract to make it easier for the hawks and convince him to go there.
I think we'd cop $100k to get better trade, but I'm not sure we can do that with an OOC player. I think Hawks will get it close enough because Carlisle management are realising if there is no trade there is ZERO chance he's still there at pick 5 in PSD.

Pretty confident there.
very confident

anything that comes from the dons needs to be taken with a grain of salt. its 90% bullshit, like we saw last week and like we saw during the ASADA saga

fact is if dodoro was so confident he wouldnt be talking trades right now. he's actually counter offered a few times now

the longer this goes on the more confident i am that we get him for free

Is it really that hard to work out what I was saying there? You clearly haven't understood one bit of it and then you've gone on a rant! Well done.

What I was saying is that if that trade went through (Carlisle for pick 10) you would still have 23 and 25 left, which you may then be able to package up and trade to say GWS for pick 8, which would mean you finish up with picks 4, 8 and 10, a fantastic result.

On the other hand, if you reject this deal and keep on insisting on getting pick 5 off us, you will almost certainly have to give up one of those two early 20's picks, as well as Carlisle, in order for us to be willing to trade pick 5. That then most likely eliminates the option of trading for GWS's pick 8 and leaves you with only one of 23 or 25, meaning you end up with 4, 5 and 23/25, rather than 4, 8 and 10, which is what you might be able to leave with if you accept the deal that was suggested earlier today.

Surely that's not that hard to comprehend?
While I agree with what you're saying and think Carlisle for 10 is a good deal, we don't know what Essendon want. We don't know where the players are they want. Maybe they want a player in 4 and 5 and then don't want their next one till later on in the draft. Who knows.

HAWTHORN would be prepared to restructure its player payments to fit in Jake Carlisle as Essendon stands firm on its trade demands.
The Hawks remain keen on Carlisle and will attempt to zero in if the Saints and Bombers cannot agree to a deal by Thursday afternoon.
The reigning premiers privately are confident Carlisle has not ruled out Waverley as a new home next season.

The Herald Sun has confirmed Hawthorn has room to accommodate Carlisle in its salary cap with some manoeuvring of other deals, after the retirements of veterans Brian Lake and David Hale.

Unless Essendon buckles, Carlisle will have to reconsider joining Hawthorn or entering the preseason draft, where Carlton could snaffle the big man with pick No.1.

And this is what Ameeteur Hour did by stalling in the first week. He left the door open and Carlisle has got himself a viable second option and Disco got a week to get other deals worked out.

Saints fans can completely forget about PSD.

Reading The Age report about Sydney getting involved etc... They're saying 24&44 won't give them enough return for 14 so swans won't do it. Would saints be willing to part with 5, 24 for Carlisle and 14? Sydney get 24,44 & 57 (roughly 1300pts for their 1161pts that 14 is valued at) Ess give up Carlisle 44 & 57 for 5..

Had to double edit, bloody points system..
