You just don't watch much junior footy do you?
Weitering, schache, francis, mills, hooper and parish are the players who would be higher value than Carlisle.
Hooper and mills are tied to Sydney sides.
It's not the draft pick it is what you can get with the pick.
Did you watch Carlisle play on Cameron?
I think he showed a pretty accurate glimpse of his ability.
Any pick above pick 4 means Essendon are getting less value than what jake is worth because of the players available this year. So Essendon will get screwed. But pick 25 is an ignorant post that is just ill informed.
I have this feeling a strong club will offer a late first rounder and they will snare jake which will make it that much harder for the rest to catch up. Essendon just need to get the best kids we can as we are a fair way off.

horrible deal. pick 25 and some steak knives would be a good starting point

Just another consideration when determining Carlisles value....

The elephant in the room for mine is a little more specific than the whole WADA saga....the more specific question resolves around the form of Carlisle that keeps being referred back to....at that time Carlisle was allegedly "juiced up" and arguably had an unfair advantage over any player not on Essendon's list. Will Carlisle reach those 2013 heights again without (allergy) being on the "gear?"

Watson was a plodder
Exploded into a brownlow medal winning machine
And now he plods again
What a mess ...

I do actually...

And you've missed one important point, you get what the market dictates as fair. No one will give up a pick inside the first 10 picks for him. You'll also be narrowed in who you can deal with, more than likely down to the one club he nominates. Which means you get what's available. Which if it's Carlton or st kjlda it will be a second rounder and some steak knives

Can understand the Saints offering a second rounder .
But why would Carlton in a rebuild ??
If Carlisle nominates Carlton , they don't have to offer anything at all ...
If Carlton deem it necessary to trade , Matthew Watson could be available .
The PSD option is open to just one Melbourne based club ...

Seattle mariners. Boston Red Sox.
Been rubbished before on here by the keyboard warriors but would essendon be open to Hickey and our second for Carlisle. Or Spencer white (young raw key forward to go alongside daniher) and our second. I think where St.Kilda is at Hickey is more expendable than ever. Longer has come on and is still young and Im really looking forward to seeing Holmes play as a second ruck especially if sub rule goes. I dont really care for the WADA link anymore I am really just over it. The more players that Essendon trade out from that period the lesser the penalty I think and it seems Carlisle's best spot is backline where Hooker and Hurley have overtaken him.

depends on the contract he demands...for instance he nominates st kilda i could see them offer him a contract that prices out the other clubs including carlton

but it rarely gets to PSD. a deal will be done of some sort

Carlton will be clearing loads of salary cap $ at seasons end so that wouldn't be a problem .

That said , if Carlisle nominates the Saints , he'll get there .

The PSD option would only be used by Carlton if , a) the club & Carlisle decided to go that way from the start
Or b) in deciding to trade and efc refusing Carlton's offer , Carlton and Carlisle simply say , you've had your chance , and walk to the PSD .

Most clear thinking footy followers acknowledge the situation and it's unique circumstances , efc will be shafted if Carlisle leaves wherever he goes ...

And the club that finishes last.

Why do you think it's impossible that Brisbane take him? Because the poor boy doesn't want to move interstate? Get real.

For a team bereft of tall options, why wouldn't they take carlisle at least to give their other key position players some time to develop. If after two years he decides to leave, sell him to the highest bidder and it all makes good business.

Your arrogance is naive. Why would any player nominate Carlton when they are further away from any other team in the competition from achieving success? You won't be the only team throwing $$ at him.

I would think that if Geelong sends Motlop out , that pick would go Carlton for Henderson rather then geelongs pick 14. Not sure what a team gives up for Motlop though that Blues could then pass on to the Dons but probably not close enough..

Probably, not sure why geelong would want Henderson if Carlisle is available though. He's older and not as good

You know why ,

Never forget WADA matey ...
So what? He's not getting 2 years, lucky to get more than 4 games ban if WADA can miraculously develop a test in record time to avoid being completely embarrassed the way ASADA were.

If it's me, I'll take thye better player even if he's gonna get a little ban. If he somehow got the whole 2 years he'd be the same age as henderson when he returned.

No, i'm reading between the lines of your clear suggestion that he will walk directly to Carlton if he goes to the PSD due to your unwillingness to conduct a fair trade for a player you will pay $700k a year to, yet is deemed not worthy of a first round pick. If he nominates Carlton and you don't want to offer a fair trade, say hello to Brisbane I would suggest.

Without meaning to sound offensive, apart from $$$, what could the Blues possibly have to offer a 24YO with the position of their list at the moment?

Added to that what does Jake bring to them, wallpaper at best.

Has to be the biggest mismatch of player/club i've seen for a while. Hey Jake come and bust your gut for little result in a team thats rebuilding until your ready to retire.

Freo, Hawks, Dogs, North could surely paint a much brighter version of the future and will have appropriate picks to trade. Saints too can at least offer light at the end of the tunnel after a little patience.

Ess to Car is classic out of the frying pan into the fire career move.

Our club has said no to going after Carlisle a few times so far this season. With that said it would not surprise me if we made an 11th hour bid for him in trade with Essendon. Would be interesting though given what Essendon would request in trade. First round draft pick?

Can't he just take an anti-histamine?

Yep, all sorts of this. Guess if his heart is set on playing down back he'll see a bit of the ball playing at Carlton.

If CFC wanted to , they could .
Again , Carlisle will get to where he wants to go , so it won't come to that ...
wouldnt be anywhere near it

they have too many players tied up in contracts that were acquired as early as last year not to mention the money daisy is on

the saints are struggling to make 95% of the cap with front ending and keeping players off the veterans list we also qualify for the extra 5%

Judd, Carrazzo, warnock clears approx. $1.3 mln we will be way below 95% of cap space.

Henderson and Yarran clears a further $700k

Murphy, Simpson & Walker are on vets lists takes away $350k from salary cap

Daisy was front loaded and dwindling next two years I think we will have enormous amount of space next two years.
