Larkins can diagnose an injury like an MRI specialist from 200m away. I'm sure he is just as accurate about that rule change.
He's got some knowledge that matters as far as diagnosing injury. That's about as far as his credibility should extend... And even then it's conditional. At least he has some kind of use there.

His advice on rule changes is utterly worthless to my way of thinking, unless he's done some pretty serious study in the topic... And I'd be shocked if that were the case.

He wasn't giving advice though. More of a scoop on an upcoming announcement.

Well that is pretty discouraging.

Why f!ck with a rule that hasn't hurt anyone... And isn't being obviously exploited?
I don't see what the alternative is anyway.

Are they going to rule that the sub can only come on for injuries? In that case are they going to mandate that the injured player has to miss the next week to stop teams faking? And if so what about legit injuries like Hill last week where he couldn't play out the game but is right to go this week? And what happens to subs who don't get used but have already missed the chance to play ressies that week?

The whole thing will be far, far messier if they try to tinker with it.

100% agree, but this is the AFL after all. They'll have consulted Leading Teams or some such and come up with yet another clever idea.

That is, of course, if the good Doctor isn't talking out of his clacker.
