Should we look at this guy, but as a backman? He was arguably in AA form in 2013 when he spent the year down back and really seems to have only lost confidence since being pushed forward. While we need a second KPF, bringing Carlise in would release Reid to play forward without losing too much down back. It would also allow D. Moore to play forward. I wouldn't go near him for the reported 750k that is being talked about, but 450-500k would be fair IMO.

I'd look at him as a KPD who can be swung forward if needed. The market for a tall athletic KPD who can go be thrown forward and has shown glimpses of genuine elite-level talent at the ripe old age of 23 is going to cost you, given the dearth of available KPP's in the system and the number of teams that are clamouring for quality down the spine - that 450-500k figure you've mentioned there is pie in the sky stuff really and probably wouldn't even be looked at by his agent..

Whoever gets him will more than likely be paying that $700k+ asking price. Personally I reckon that away from the (unfortunately) once-again toxic environment at the Bombers he might actually flourish into a legitimate star of the competition (and it probably wont take long either) - the players involved have collectively been under significantly more pressure with the off-field issues over the past few years than any normal footballer would experience and it would have to be messing with their heads on some level.

Whether we need to sell the house to get him on board is another issue - but it would be nice to have a taller option down back to handle the taller forwards we're seeing nowadays (we get exposed at times by taller forwards with our KPD's all being around 6'5"-ish).

Edit: Yes I know Moore is 199cm, but I see him eventually moving forward once he finds his feet at AFL level and bulks up a bit (if he isn't started there right from the get-go).

What do you think we'd need to give up in a trade?

Bearing in mind that they probably would hold us to ransom cos they hate us. :)

he would be a good fit for us especially given his age. personally if I was Fremantle I would possible go Hard for him as he would be perfect fit for them given their bookends in Mcpharlin and Pavlich are both pretty much done maybe one more season left.

Id love him at the pies but the whole WADA investigation and potential penalties would weigh heavily against going down this track. Think he has AA potential and would cost a heap to get out of the bombers so it's a no from me

Very good player however, would have a good look around at what's available before offering up our 1st rounder (that's what it will take for Essendon to trade him). Just not sure he's worth a top 10* pick

*if we don't make the finals

Someone like Witts potentially
Why would they go for witts? If there is one area they are fairly well stocked in it would be in the ruck (Bellchambers, Giles, with blokes like McKernan, Daniher, etc. as second ruckmen to step in when needed).

If other clubs are interested then the price will be too high - we aren't exactly on friendly terms with North at the moment either so I can't see them not trying to screw us.
He will be unrestricted at the end of this year I believe.
If so, North can't do anything about it and it doesn't matter what they think of us:p

Have you seen those ruckmen play? Cause if you have you have your answer.

Would rather go for Hurley if we want a defender. Hurley, Frost and Reid would intimidate a lot of forward lines. That said, Brown, Frost and Reid isn't all that bad either. Just need Reid ready to go. A lot of people are down on Brown, but he and Goldsack are the ones leading the backline.

In any case, why go for one of Essendon's players? The appeal is looming over their heads and Essendon is notorious for being crappy at the trade table.
