It seems from Melbourne fans perspective this is done signed and sealed for $750K, no point discussing it because jay Clarke said so.

Really?

That may well be Melbournes initial offer, Levers management is probably pushing for more, which might be where the $90K reports come from.

Still a long long way to go on this deal, and it's a naive shutting down other media reports based on what you'd like to hear as a supporter. IMO anything could happen, heard so many contradicting reports
And it seems from an Adelaide fans perspective that you think you didn't low ball him, that your offer is 600k+ and that he's going for money so melbournes offer must be ludicrously higher.

From a Melbourne fans perspective Jay Clark appears to have a good source within the club, because he's called all of melbournes 'larger' trades over the last few years well ahead of time.

Not one Melbourne supporter has said it's a done deal, stop spouting shit.

Melbourne supporters are saying our offer is $750k due a report from a reporter that has had accurate information about Melbourne.

Anyone else think that players' salaries should just be public like every other sport under the sun?

Gives greater transparency on salary caps and means the allotment of expectation of salary is more measured.

Nah - I really don't have any interest in the salaries being made public. It's a bit gross already that everyone thinks they know how much every player earns.

There are so many forces in determining salary besides on field performance. (Potential, available cap, competitive bid on a player, etc) but the general public are just going to revert to "oh you loser - getting paid $800k a year and can't get a kick".

We already see posts here of people telling us when and where a player has bought property. Jesus Christ it's embarrassing how much we delve into the players lives as it is - I don't think it makes the world a better place for the public to know their salaries.

Thats more a BigFooty thing and its about getting insight into player movement, not player value. Its also worthless, and has no bearing so will die off in time.

But if the salaries were open, each club has a hard cap, its a pie and you know how each player takes a slice and what they provide.
Works fine in every other sport, don't see why it can't work here.

I never stated we didn't low ball him. In fact I acknowledged it this thread earlier. It's part of Adelaide's list management strategies, Bickley spoke about it at length. I even provided a link, which again I've done so below:
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...er-contract-negotiations-20170712-gx9pos.html

I don't agree with the tactics, but I sure acknowledge we employ them.
Maybe check who you're calling out on this first....

But you're also denying reports of $900K.
So are we in agreeance then that Melbourne has offered $750K but will most likely have to pay more as Lever's management wants $900K?

Or are you just failing to acknowledge the other inflated figures that are floating around?

I'm not saying you are offering more than $750K but those higher figures have to come from somewhere and my assertion is that it's what Lever's management is putting forward.

Why do people care how much he gets paid the fact is only lever and his manger knows, at the end of the day you are worth what a club is willing to pay you.
I agree with you. The dees have to pay an amount to out do other big offers for him. If he wants to leave it's due to him wanting to play footy in Melbourne in my opinion. The big offers are a bonus.

Yep let's believe everyone but the one bloke who has a track record of accurate Melbourne information.
That's not what I'm saying.
Merely providing an update to the thread based on the most recent reports I heard.

Was literally just moving my car for work and heard them reporting $800K offered for Lever after a caller rang in enquiry where he was most likely to go. They stated Melbourne and the current offer at $800K.

I'm using the annologay "clear as mud" as I've got no idea who or what to believe now as there as so many varying reports. The one thing that seems consistent is the favoured external club being Melbourne

Can’t believe what clubs are willing to give up for a kid that has started well but rarely plays on anyone. He is prone to turning it over terribly by foot. He’s not athletic like a Rance. Plus he’s already had one knee reco.
$900000 and two first rounders for him is utter madness.
