Dion Prestia - $750k last year to Richmond. 20% increase with the new CBA = $900k. Trade price - pick 6.

The argument about contract $$ is stupid. Every player has a different trade value and contract $$ is only a part of the equation. Just stop it.
Kpps are harder to get and worth more than mids. And did Prestia make the AA squad?
He is worth more than Prestia any day of the week.

Sorry mate, I like Howe but Lever is a better footballer. Not only that, but the more the years go on he'll become even more of a better footballer than Howe.

Also, Collingwood have a good record at the trade table because you get a lot of ex-supporters and players come cheaply that way. Even with a good record of getting the players you go after, you have a decent record of getting players who don't really do much. Take a look at Varcoe, Aish, Mayne, Greenwood. You got Adams cheap because GWS didn't mind losing him, Crisp came good very unexpectedly and you paid way overs for Treloar. Even with being gifted players like WHE for nothing, Collingwood have still managed to perform worse every year.

That isn't a good record.
You only think Lever is better because he's younger and at a more likeable club. I watched the two a lot this year and Howe is definitely better. Nothing against Lever who will eventually be better, but as we speak Howe is superior.

Varcoe is a success, Greenwood a pass, the Giants did want to keep Adams and were holding out for a good pick for him (Pick 10 until Shaw agreed to move up). We also paid slight overs for Treloar, but nothing drastic. We are ass because of our drafting record, not because of our trading.

I'd agree with you if Lever was a legitimately proven KPP. As it stands he's a taller version of several other medium/tall intercepting defenders. If we were talking about Harris Andrews then I could get on board with the high trade price.

Dont stress, your out of the running more worried about what the Dees can offer or maybe the Bulldogs, maybe even North might step up to the plate missing out on Dusty

I dont care where he goes as long as we get some value

Can't stand Howe but people are kidding if they think Lever had a better year. Lever will be better in time but not now.

I hope you're right, but given Waldron record on this stuff I'm not so sure

I dont think there is any question it will involve a fiirst rounder along with a player, you dont pay $850K for a player and swap a packet of twisties for it
Your post asked for "first rounder and who?" I was suggesting a first and a second round pick. I don't think we have any players that we'd be willing to part with that Adelaide would actually want, because they're too similar to what you already have; e.g. Alex Neal-Bullen.

I'm not buying the rumour from Waldron that we are in the "box seat" to get Lever. I can understand us being considered one of the favourites to get him, but my gut feel is that Collingwood and Hawthorn are right in it as well and I can see Lever nominating one of those clubs. Going to be interesting to see what happens.

I'd be surprised if he went to Hawthorn. All indications are that he is returning to Melbourne for a godfather pay offer, not because he is some home sick kid. Hawthorn seem to pride themselves on not paying overs for players so I can't see them getting him.

Of course, I could be wrong :)

levers manager isnt a dimwit he realises Hawthorn have abosultely zero to trade unless they are willing to let Burton come home

Disagree. As has already been stated, our first and second is more than enough. I actually think it's too much and prefer him to go to somebody else for that price.
Then he should go to someone else. We took him with pick 14 as a kid out of the game for a knee recon, and we develop him as the best young defender in the game for basically a second rounder on top of what we paid, yeah not good enough. He is worth a top 5 pick, and pick 10 plus a mid second doesnt equal a top 5 pick.
Melbourne are going to have to find the pick they need

Interesting - I still reckon irrespective if Jake does/doesn't nominate a club (as well as Dees and Pies) Dogs, Saints, Bombers and Hawks will all have a crack come trade week - why wouldn't you as Jake will be a marquee player for years to come. Easily worth a pick 6-10 + 2nd rounder/decent player.
Yea I reckon when teh whips start cracking (ie. when Adelaide's season finishes) then and only then will we see who really wants him. Until then everything you read is just bulldust.
Dogs ruled out of the race - my arse!
You don't rule someone out that is willing to pay big dollars

Hawthorn can actually offer their 2018 first round pick so they've got some trade value there and they would at least offer that up as part of their trade negotiations if Lever nominates them. You won't be getting Burton. Same with Collingwood, if Lever nominates them, you won't be getting their first round pick as well as Scharenberg as some of your posters have suggested.
