I’m starting to think Soligo IS the gun midfielder we’ve all been wanting to gain from our top picks at the draft over the last few years.

Didn’t skip a beat in the trial vs West Coast and hasn’t since his debut last year.

Class. Inside/outside. How far can a 20yo, in his 2nd season, go?

He is performing like a top 10 draft selection. Absolute blue chip.

Watching the replay this morning, and some of the work in tight by Jake was elite. His ability to get his hands on the footy, be clean and flick out a handball to our advantage is uncanny.

He is our elite midfielder and immediately makes out midfield look better.

He is a gun and I think that’s understating it.

After he came back into the team he has shown an incredible ability to make fantastic decisions no matter the situation and his disposal is spot on.

He doesn’t panic and shows more poise than our experienced mids. When he starts to consistently rack up 25 plus touches he will be one of the best mids in the comp.

Thank **** Nicks moved him back into the middle, that’s where he belongs.

Out of all the other clubs that didn't pick him, Richmond really missed a trick with their Sonsie/ Banks double selection, Soligo was right under their nose training with them. Sam Mitchell wouldn't have missed that.

It's really our gain, Soligo is just a joy to watch.

Both Pedlar and Rachele also had excellent individual plays in traffic as well, very good sign of quality players.

Decision making and disposal would be among the best at the club already. Need to get him the ball as much as possible this year.

True, and Sonsie was the slider, tipped early as possible number 1 pick IIRC.

No doubt Richmond jumped on him, which just leaves Banks over Soligo.

Time will tell, but I haven't heard Banks' name mentioned since draft night.

Edit: with Sonsie a similar player to Soligo, it really just looks like we got lucky. Also with the trend to focus on getting stronger and take mids, possibly many clubs are ignoring the smaller high end talent.

Honestly I hope Soligo ends up better than Edwards. He was reliable, but probably benefitted a lot from Roo, McLeod and Goodwin.

He really has the look of a classic classy centreman to him. His best work for us in the years to come will be between the arcs. Along with Rachele, (fingers crossed) Pedlar, Berry and Shoenberg, there is a nice blend of skill and grunt around thd ball from our younger brigade
