http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2012-12-26/stringer-im-loving-itThe words are predictable, they’re expected, but they’re warmly welcomed by any football fan from their top draft pick. “I’m loving it.”
At home, at ease and hard at work, Jake Stringer has made an immediate impression at Whitten Oval after arriving via the Bulldogs’ first pick in the 2012 AFL Draft, and he’s lapping up every moment.
Yeah, another good piece from the comms dept at the WO. Good stuff.http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2012-12-26/stringer-im-loving-it

Definitely. And the fact he's being put with all the tall boys, and I believe the tall forwards at least gives us an idea of where he's going to play this year. Maybe the foreshadowed move to the midfield will come later? It's intriguing to see that he's labled as such.
Or maybe never. I think overall the footy world's views (and ours here on BF as well) on key forwards are warped and outdated. We're so fixated on height it clouds our judgement. We have plenty of height in our forward line. What we lack is killer instinct, goal sense, elite finishing skills, clean hands, footy smarts and a one on one brute to scare the opposition. As I've said since the pre-draft chat began, I don't see why stringer can't be this guy for us....in time (I expect very little out of him in 2013). He can be our full forward. He can be a 50/60 goal a year guy.Definitely. And the fact he's being put with all the tall boys, and I believe the tall forwards at least gives us an idea of where he's going to play this year. He could roll through the middle from time to time to shake things up, but I think forward is where he will play his best footy, and the club has let it be known at every opportunity that they see him as a forward. I like it.
Don't say that, now I just can't ****ing wait even more! From afl.com: NAB Cup test for young Bulldogs
"THE WESTERN Bulldogs will use the NAB Cup to determine whether top draft picks Jake Stringer and Jackson Macrae are ready to step up and take on the Brisbane Lions in round one of the home and away season"
Thanks for the reassurance borrat. We're trying to keep a lid on it, but he sounds like the goods. Did you see that game?stringer WILL be a gun if he plays anything like he did for bendigo against werribee in the finals dominated that game easily
although hopefully he's debut wont be to good in round 1![]()
I believe it was 7-10 on debut, dogwatch
There you go. What would I know?I believe it was 7-10 on debut, dogwatch.

Sounds like Jake is killing the pre-season, might see him earlier than most expected.
10 years on I do not think 191 cm is tall enough to play key forward - and its unlikely we got him to play midfield.
To add to this, Jake is only 18. He's going to grow a bit more still.Pavlich is 192cm.
And is an out and out gun in BOTH positions.
As well as full back.
Nothing to say this kid, with a couple of pre-seasons under his belt, can't achieve the same.
Why do you think it's unlikely? He has played much better in the midfield than he has up forward, to date. He'll be used in a variety of roles once he's got a few pre-seasons into him. Don't expect him to just be playing forward his whole career.- and its unlikely we got him to play midfield.
Dont be so sure - has been in the back quarter of time trials in his running - to be expected of course from a young fella who has never done a pre season at many club let alone AFL level.
I may have said this before - But I dont expect Stringer to be anything but a good competive beast.
I liken him in a lot of ways to Mitch Hahn - allbeit 3 cms taller - but Mitch never had the tank to run out a full season as a mid fielder and was never tall enough to play as a key forward. 10 years on I do not think 191 cm is tall enough to play key forward - and its unlikely we got him to play midfield.
So I expect the guy, Stringer, to be a bull - but not a star of the competition.
