membrey is a better mark. stringer is a very average mark.
Correct Membrey is a stronger and more reliable. Good thing about Friday night was the second half saw Stringer twice on the lead take marks, first time we have seen this since he hurt his shoulder. Obviously starting to find some confidence in his body.

didn't know he had hurt his shoulder sorry.

would be excellent to add this to his game - right now he's a bit like a shorter version of buddy.

i also find he gets pushed out of the packs a bit too easily, but on the flip side he hits the ground running when it hits the ground.

Seeing as a mod split this thread up to make me look like a massive tool (I don't need help in that btw) I'm gonna bump this.

Any Saints fans up for a sig bet? Most goals in 2017, Jake or Tim.

I'm genuinely curious; after winning a premiership, why would you care about dick measuring on player v player?
Probably should be sent to the polls bored....

FWIW though, this is a troll thread created by some random mod based on what a now permabanned St Kilda troll commented on about 2 years ago.

I'm tipping Tim for a bit of a down year this year- like Stringer, Bruce and Hogan for instance had to varying degrees last year, after their big breakout years the year before- before he bounces back to his best in 2018- like I'm tipping all of Stringer, Hogan and Bruce to do this year.

Very difficult to immediately back up a big breakout year I reckon, especially at a relatively young age and when you've only played 30 games.

He's also likely to be playing a significantly different role, pushing a lot more up the ground. In most of his big goal games last year Paddy wasn't playing.

Finally looking like he can move through the midfield for more than just bursts.
I thought he still played in burst to an extend, but looked very dangerous everytime he went near the ball

As a Dogs supporter, is this something you want?

As an outsider, if he were at my club I would want Stringer in the forward line nearly all the time - only time I would want him in the middle is if he was having a bad day and needed a couple of easy touches to get the confidence up and what not.

Crameri, Cloke, Boyd, Dickson...all good players, Dickson particularly effective and Boyd possibly turned a corner, but none of them put the same fear into me as an opposition supporter as an 'on' Stringer would. He got 40 goals in a year his long-term relationship with the mother of his kids ended and he was carrying multiple niggles...that's what scares me.
Stringer in the midfield? Not so much. I don't think he has the same 'sense of time' as many of your other midfielders (Bont, Libba, Hunter the main 3 to come to mind, but Dahlhaus also very quick-thinking and fast in there) do.

Stringer creates time for himself by shrugging tackles. Would play like Dustin Martin in the midfield.

Structurally he's a non-entity up forward. He'll still bag 2-3 on an average day and he'll bludgeon a scrub like Hartigan, but he's not going to hold down a key position.

We're not going to suffer for his absence up forward if he's in the midfield, where his power through the hips, disposal and burst speed make him a goalkicking threat regardless.

It all comes down to his fitness, and it's looking like he's made massive strides.

I'll take a sig bet for Bruce more goals then Stringer. Membery looks like he will play higher up the ground this year, so not sure he will replicate his 2016 feats on the scoreboard.

Stringer is playing more up the ground...apparently like Membrey (whoever Membrey is)

Good on the Dogs. I like the brand of footy they play.

Looks like lions are going to improve too. Was impressed with their discipline when in possession against us. Control the ball, control the game
