EXACTLY.

Essendon had a list of three players who wanted in. They tried for Stringer first up, spent a week negotiating, and couldn't make it happen. There was a gap. Essendon then had to move on two other players on the list, which appears to have been more sensible dealing for all involved.

Now, we come back around to Stringer and there are less options available. Simple as that.
There are less options, but we still have comfortably enough currency. We have 3 2nd round picks and also the possibility of next years first, if a second comes back.

Despite all the animosity driven 'Dog's get screwed' talk on Bigfooty, we can still come to an amicable trade if both parties perhaps shift their goal posts a fraction.

"He's going overseas today, if he doesn't get traded by Thursday he might stay there if he's having a great time."

Just Connors bluster, but what a result that would be.
That would be great!!!! Can Jobe get him a job making Lattes?

Jake stays away. Yippee!!!! Dogs don't have to pay him, we can trade him next year. It would get us as much as two second rounders that we won't use this year (zero value).

Connors gets his reputation further ruined.

Win-win-win!!!!

-Club publicly calls that it will trade out a player, distances themselves from him during difficult times, then refuses to get a deal done.
- Stringer's value would be at rock bottom the following year.
- Dogs trading reputation takes a massive hit, players and managers look elsewhere, club gains the mantle 'hard to deal with'.

Lose-lose-lose.

Being on the end of Connors plays in media is never fun. He doesn't mind giving the media stuff to run with.

Two down, one to go. Dodds turning his attention solely to the Bulldogs now.

"25 or 30, not both"
Agree with this! Stringer and a warm VB for 25. That's not enough? He's worth more?

So how would someone quantify the damage done to his reputation from a) Western Bulldogs advising he's not required in 2018 and b) News of his questionable personal life issues.

If it goes to arbitration, those factors DO make a difference, and they are not quantifiable with numbers and metrics.

Sorry Doggies, you don't get both picks now. With the above factors, Stringer was worth about 19. We just didn't have it to give you. Maybe 2-3 weeks ago a straight swap for 11, maybe, but a lot has transpired since.

Yeah nah. We don't pay him. Jake issues proceedings and everything comes out - salary takes another hit. I doubt Jake is that stupid. Another fake news story from Connors.

Huff and puff.

It does the media's collective head in that the Dogs don't talk.

Latest deal as I see it.

Dogs lose Stringer & 18 3rd rd
EFC loses 18 1st rd. (But have full complement of later picks).

Bombers back themselves for the flag. Dogs back them to miss the 8. Adds another reason to barrack against EFC next yr.
