Danger was a FA. Stringer is contracted so they won't accept peanuts & they dont have too.
yeah they do. snowflakes chance he is at the dogs next year so they have to move him. and everybody knows it.

what he is worth and what the dogs will get will probably be two vastly different values.

On Talking Footy they are talking pick 15-25 as what it will take to get it done. We hold Carlton's 2nd at pick 20, so could be a relatively painless trade if he nominates us.

geelong seem to be a fair club to deal with.

the next 2 weeks will go along way to deciding what Geelong will pay.
Parfitt and Nakia have just re-signed and are very happy at the club (and as clear best 22 players have no incentive to move). I can think of a few players who would be possibles for a stringer trade but they aren't among them. I think it's more likely any trade we offer will be mainly picks.

Haven't read the thread sorry apologies if already talked about.

News reported that Stringers currency is pick 15-25 on $550k a year. For me that's unders cos I rate him pretty highly, and would be delighted to trade our pick 20 for him (would even throw in a player).

Are bombers fans happy to trade pick 11 for him?

I think if it was 20 we would need to add in a later pick/pick upgrade or a fringe-ish player from our end but it's not impossible. I think the dogs would be more likely to ask for our 2018 1st rounder (a pick in a better draft) would be interesting to see whether we agree to that or not.

Would gladly trade pick 11 for him and give him $750-800k x4
Many others probably wouldn't though

If he goes for 20 alone that's massive unders. Says to me there are some significant issues. Far closer value shoukd be around 10-15.

If Jake nominates Geelong and Geelong only and Bulldogs are "good blokes" sounds like they would take out pick 20 or a first next year. If not we would have to throw in a player like Thurlow along with the pick to outbid Bombers pick 11.

Would doggies prefer pick 11 or next years frist rounder and Thurlow?

fair enough. I read someone suggesting blokes who are fringe 22. they wont get it done.

A bidding war is irrelevant to the dogs. they cant make him go anywhere he doesn't want to go and they want him gone.

if I'm geelongs list manager, and he noms geelong, I am screwing the pants off them. Dogs want him gone. Don't do them any favours. his value vanished the minute they decided he was damaged goods and told the world.

Mixed feelings about Stringer. On one hand if comes good he could conceivably be a forward/mid version of Dustin Martin. On the other hand we aren't crying out for a forward with Stringer's skill set and are desperate for pure midfielders.

It's all irrelevant until he nominates a club.

Who cares who has the better trade hand. It's just so irrelevent in this situation. Stringer wanted to actually stay. If he chooses Ess then he will get to Ess. Bevo has already said he has a duty of care to Jake and his players to get a deal down thats good for the Bullies and Jake.

If he picks Geel then it won't matter a dog biscuit if Ess have pick 11.

FWIW I reckon our 1st rd pick next year would be the bare min I'd accept should Stringer choose us

I'm not sure what Essendon are offering but if they are offering pick 11 I wonder if Bulldogs would take:
Geelong: 1st 2018 + pick 21
Bulldogs: 2nd 2018 + Stringer

It probably puts the points value on about the same with the potential for upside if Dogs get back to top 4 and Geelong decline, and it's a stronger draft but I imagine Dogs are after immediate impact.

No to trading Thurlow. He will play 200 games.
