Well that pretty much seems to be the case, doesn't it....they've publicly shouted out that he's damaged goods and he needs to move on.
Spot on. Dogs haven't helped themselves by publicly mentioning his relationship issues. On talent alone he's worth a 1st rounder (even more) but supporters have this unfortunate tendency to over-inflate the value of their players without acknowledging why they are on the trade table in the first place.
Being declared tradeable automatically diminishes selling power (being contracted is irrelevant in this instance).

Given the current state, the Dogs should consider a 2018 first rounder plus a 2017 2nd rounder (?)

He is so over rated for what he has actually produced so far.
He has 1 AA year.
Every other year has been average.
He only averages 13 touches a game.

his off field issues aside, he cant handle being the main target. if he goes to geelong or Essendon there are other options around him. he'll be a better player......if he sorts himself out.

I'm hoping clubs low-ball us, as we would baulk at trading him for significant unders and keep him.
Geelong (who don't have the currency and have other targets) and Essendon (who have the Dodo) being the two touted clubs interested in Jake help this scenario significantly.

Slightly off topic but wouldn't keeping him put player harmony at risk? I know players don't have to be BFFs with all their team mates but if this results in factions within the playing group (given that Bevo apparently doesn't want him) it makes it more difficult for the team to work together.

That would really depend on the underlying issues.

So Bulldogs wanted to get rid of Stringer? It seems like they initiated the trade talk. Connors said that Stringer did not request a trade.

Why go so public about it? Will certainly get unders for him now.

Not if it delivers a public smackdown on his market worth. Rumours suggest it's primarily a professionalism issue. Still a lot to play out with Jake, might work might not.

If that is the case (of going unders), it opens the possibility of other Victorian clubs outside Essendon getting nominated by Stringer. It doesn't sound like from the interview that Geelong is a favourite in any sense of the word.

What is he worth in a trade after today's revelations?

Essendon would almost be paying overs with their first round pick.

Given he's contracted for 2018 I doubt we'd accept unders. I'm hoping we only get unders offers for him and therefore keep him. There is more chance of Stringer turning it around than of any pick we get being as good as Stringer 2016 was, less chance that draftee gets to Stringer 2015 AA levels.

In your position, I would hope for the exact same and keep him.

Looks like a pick in the teens or an early second with a decent player at this stage.

It seems odd that he had an exit interview with little to no drama and then he's put up for trade a week later.

"A lot of Melbourne clubs appeal, it's just about meeting them over the next 2-3 weeks".

I think Damian Barrett needs to do a better job, that doesn't tell me that Geelong is his preferred destination.
