easy one for me.

Essendon make it known to his manager and the Bulldogs that if he wants to come, pick 11 is on the table, no strings attached.

Essendon can get a high profile player, pay a fair price and be EASY TO DEAL WITH, and have a fair chance it will be a gamble that pays off. I see no point in dicking around with trying to make it a little bit fairer, and even less point in trying to screw the bulldogs.

Let's build a strong trade relationship on the back of the Crameri trade and build up some good will. Pay what is a fair price that shows we respect what Stringer can offer and that shows we back ourselves in to provide an environment he needs (both supportive but also with the drive and expectations that Merrett and Daniher provide).

And let's face it, whilst there is risk involved, you are far less likely to draft a player who will give you a better return that Stringer, at 11. Last time we had a pick in that range (10) we got Jake Melksham, who is no spud but nothing more than an average player.

Yeah, but I look at flag sides where the Hawks had Smith and Hill, Swans had Jetta (yes he has stunk since but was huge in those finals). Often these guys are not in a sides best, they are labelled soft or inconsistent but they are needed in the big games as they can break it open. Bomber Thompson recently admitted not taking Wozinski into a granny cost them big time.

Going back a but Acker on the outside was a freak and won the Brions many games.
Differently the top sides have a mid that can break clear with their speed and use the ball well and this is part of the problem with Essendon, there isn't anyone who has shown an ability to take a match apart or to take control of the match when the other side is starting to get on top which is why we saw the second quarter run by Sydney just exposed it.

100% agree.
We should be on the front foot and lay our cards on the table. Pick 11 straight up and no stuffing around

Probably our Pick 20 and someone like Ruggles or Horlin-Smith (?)
Thurlow is the player they reportedly have some interest in. Don't think the two you mentioned have much value. Although i suspect they will probably just push for a clean swap of our 2018 1st they will want that over pick 20 this year i think.

Spot on IMO.

Stringer is feeling a bit unloved ATM, I'd be more than happy for Essendon to offer the Dogs a quick and easy transaction here, and tell Jake himself that we want him at the club.

Is it overs? Maybe a little, but any potential change would be moderate at best.

This is all entirely contingent on the powers that be at the club being satisfied that Stringer can offer the prerequisite commitment and drive to play footy at the highest level for the club.

The unintended consequences could be that the on and off debate about Langford & Lavarde being forwards or mids might become clearer and as such they focus on becoming mids who can sometimes go forward.

Lots of rumors about why he's being shown the door here's another I've heard... part of a group of dogs including Libba and Hunter who lack of a better word have bullied Tom Boyd over the past 2 years.
if that is the case and its true

then because libba, hunter are F/S and have ties to the club, they would burn a bridge with the familes
so stringer doesnt have connections to the club, and it would be easier...

I'm not sure Essendon's pick is much better than what Geelong can offer. Geelong will likely be 1st-8th in 2018 so pick 10-18 next year.

It sounds fine all things being equal BUT the 2018 draft is apparently much stronger. Hence, is even 18 in 2018 => 11 in 2017??? I know Essendon have a 2018 pick and they might have to stump that up rather than 2017 pick. The other possibility is that Geelong flip a 2018 for a lower 2017 if the draft quality is that different.

In reality, its all meaningless though as there will be no bidding and fighting over slight pick differences, Stringer will get where he wants to go.

I suppose you could make the same argument for Richmond. Not that I know if we are in the hunt or not.

We should be in the hunt IMO.

I've heard the 2019 draft is the greatest of all time.

It doesn't matter what clubs can offer over each other - all depends on who Stringer picks. I imagine all three clubs will offer decent trade though - they aren't dicks and it's just hurting future trade prospects if they are.

Pick 11 is a win for you. How many of your AA players would you let go for pick 11? Especially under 24? Stringer is worth as much - if not more - than Carlisle.

Callum "EFC Information Clearing House" Twomey has his latest say.

Bombers are on a clear mission to change the narrative, that they've hard earned, that they are a nightmare in Trade month. I guess Liam Pickering's wry smile and eyeroll while sitting next to Adrian as he tried his latest debunk of his reputation was all that was needed. Was the highlight of Hutchy's set piece forum today i thought.

Bring on Trade week. Bring on Adrian's antics.........or has Adrian finally been told that this is now a new, play well with others, Essendon.

Will we get AnticsAdrian....or will we get NewBoringAdrian. We wait and see.

Your reference to Liam 'pure as the driven snow' Pickering was the piece de resistance of a wonderful effort, clearly :)

Yep correct. I would make the same argument for the Tigers. I don't think they are that far behind the Bombers.

The hardest part is the prediction of how teams go in 2018 if the Bombers up their 2018.

Dogs trade 11+9 for Jake Lever.
Why are they giving up picks to help Melbourne land a player?

Lever deal will be relatively simple if the Dees are happy to give up two picks. 2017 and 2018 and it's done. The future draft pick trading makes these kind of scenarios far easier.
