Essendon make it known to his manager and the Bulldogs that if he wants to come, pick 11 is on the table, no strings attached.
Essendon can get a high profile player, pay a fair price and be EASY TO DEAL WITH, and have a fair chance it will be a gamble that pays off. I see no point in dicking around with trying to make it a little bit fairer, and even less point in trying to screw the bulldogs.
Let's build a strong trade relationship on the back of the Crameri trade and build up some good will. Pay what is a fair price that shows we respect what Stringer can offer and that shows we back ourselves in to provide an environment he needs (both supportive but also with the drive and expectations that Merrett and Daniher provide).
And let's face it, whilst there is risk involved, you are far less likely to draft a player who will give you a better return that Stringer, at 11. Last time we had a pick in that range (10) we got Jake Melksham, who is no spud but nothing more than an average player.
