Are you saying he was a great mark and a great kick back then as well?

Jack Anthony had a great year as a medium forward once too.....
His kicking is fine. His marking is shit (on the lead it's actually quite good... But he rarely leads. Wants it over the back or on a pack), but his kicking has always been pretty good in the AFL. Last year or so he's had a few shockers, but until then it was always good.

What's happened? Like so many overrated players, he had a good year which was worthy of praise but not fapping. Now he has come back down to the pack, and understandably he might be down on confidence at the moment.

Shades of Chad Wingard here - remember when he was the best young small forward in the game? Now it seems he peaked at the age of 20, and is now a shadow of his former self (complete with shit tattoos).

He was a man child at age 18 and so had no trouble adjusting to the AFL right away. Not to mention his arrogance which meant he wasn't intimidated.

Overall will be remembered much like the Bulldogs' flag will be – so many average components all just clicking at the exact same, right time. I know Bullies fans find this some sort of heinous slur for some reason but of all the times to have your average list doing well, and to have lots of arrogant young pricks, doing it in the last six or seven weeks of the season is just about right on. Good on them but yeah, Stringer is pretty shit. Has been found out.

Was basically just one of those guys commentators wanked on about anyway, I mean he isn't even a bonafide key forward and isn't nimble or anywhere near finessed or skill enough to be a midfielder.

I reckon it's a huge part of it. Reality on top of that is with two young kids he can't exactly move interstate to focus on his footy and get away from it all either.

Much more of this and he'll be out of the league by the end of 2019.
No way. Clubs give second leases out like lollies these days. Travis Cloke has been useless for years and even at his peak he was very one dimensional and not really worth the big offers he was getting. Somehow he gets picked up at, what, 32? Stringer will be at the Bulldogs for a while and if they delisted him a club would definitely grab him. He's set himself up. FFS Levi Casboult is being talked up as a trade target.

Cloke doesn't deserve that kind of insult, he does whats needed of him. He does what he is paid for in what ever dimension, as you call it.
Useless is a stupid insulting word. You don't get to that level if your useless.

Did you just take a snapshot of your own post, and say "I'll leave this here?"
Like a dog smiling smugly after pooping on the front lawn.

Stringer has more talent than Bont IMO.

Lacks dedication, effort, and aerial courage. So is currently about 10% the player that Bont is.

Freak talent but really needs to get his shit together.

Certainly wouldn't trade him.

2015 looking like the exception rather than the norm at this stage.

The last 2 seasons he's been -3 kicks, -1 goal, -0.5 tackles, -0.5 I50s per game compared to 2015. Still gets comparable disposal and mark numbers, but just isn't having the same influence.

Over the latter part of 2014 and 2015 he kicked 4 or more goals 11 times with regular contributions of 2 or 3. Felt like whether he played deep inside 50 or up the ground he'd still kick a few goals against whoever you put on him. This year he's had 8 one goal games and 3 goalless games out of 16.

I hope he can get back to his best, just looks a shadow of the player he was. He's only 23, so has plenty of time.

You really should have to prove yourself for more than a year or two before guys are considered great players, hyperbole gets thrown around so quickly about some players. Bontompelli will be a gun for example but I think the hype got to his head a bit, has been lazy at times this year, he ain't great yet, even if he's going a lot better than Stringer.

Just quietly I reckon the Bont is already a gun. Not at his peak yet though. Stringer may have already peaked.

Did you just take a snapshot of your own post, and say "I'll just leave this here?" Oh I see you actually quoted mine, and, once again, if you go back to my original post in here Einstein, you'll see that I was 'snapshotting' someone else's post. It wasn't an "I told you so" it was a 'cop that'.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Do you serve cold food at your house, do you like salads?

I like salad, not a fan of cold beans though.

Good luck in the finals :)
