I don't think I'd want him at west coast. One AA does not a career make. His laziness would probably make the rest of west coast even lazier. Also seems too stupid to play AFL.

One AA is better than the vast majority of players will ever achieve. His value is low right now but no chance he would go for a third rounder.

He's no guarantee to ever achieve another. I'd be surprised if he gets near it again. He's a fading star at the age of 23.

Going through a bad patch in my opinion, but the criticism of his lateral movement and agility is well founded- it is horrible. As a 15/16 year old, he was Robbie Gray or Steve Johnson like in the way he moved, but now (since his leg break which was brutal), he has to rely on his acceleration and knowledge- which is still very good. I fully expect him to bounce back and be an elite player.

People are writing him off as a "one trick pony", but 24 months ago, he was an All Australian aged just 21. He is an incredibly talented player, who has had a down last fifteen months- which has coincided with a family breakdown. Still a very effective player and will bounce back. As for trade value- I don't expect it to ever happen- but I would be happy to part with a top 7 pick for him, or a combination of Hopper/Smith and something very decent. You don't find talent like him every day.

Would you prefer Darling or Stringer in your team?
Darling is still only 25, and has proven he can consistently be a 110 mark/40 goal a year key forward, while playing 2nd fiddle. Stringer appears to be regressing, and his weaknesses (marking, work rate) don't appear to be getting any better.

Very talented player. Just dreadfully coached.
Doesn't cover anywhere near enough ground and is always out of position at contests.

Name a player who's improved under Bevo. Exactly.
Toby McLean, Jack Macrae, Lachie Hunter, Jack Redpath, Jordan Roughead, Easton Wood, Jason Johannisen.

Who has improved under Buckley? And before you pipe up about what it has to do with the thread, you could ask the same about your question.

Didn't he play up on his misso, and she then got stuck into a team-mate of his?
Sounds like he got cucked by JJ. I think his game partly revolved around being the alpha male, so this has had a deleterious effect on him.

I understand you are being generous to Stringer but his broken leg was long before he was drafted. His AA year was post injury and he was fine, but played alongside Boyd, Crameri, Redpath and Dickson, all of whom were in form.

His problem is largely that he is usually the most dangerous forward when these guys are out and gets a ridiculous amount of attention.

It worked for us in a sense in finals last year - it allowed Dickson and Smith to get off the leash while Rampe et al thought they were doing a job on Stringer.

If he gets some dangerous players around him he will do fine. If he's the only one there he will struggle. His defensive pressure is not sufficient, which would annoy Bevo but even this year he was often solid.

This thread is about Stringer, please keep your posting on topic. Whataboutism really shows the quality of a poster.
My posts were about Stringer. You brought up Darling for no reason at all. This isn't the bay. If you want to get into shit fights, go there.
