Jake Tarca

As indicated by others, a little early to judge other than to say needs more time, fitness and development.

Having said that, Jake has displayed some attributes that gives me hope -
- pretty quick over distance as on show in the GF sprint (was ‘in it’ right till last 10 metres). The key is acceleration over first 5-10 metres, but still rather encouraging.
- at times showed that can hit up passes pretty neatly.
- in some games showed some neat crumbing, and goal snapping. As a small forward will ready need to get to the 2-3 a game level at VFL, next season or two.

Didn’t see much evidence of tackling intensity - will need to show that.

The essential requirement will be building the tank and staying uninjured, but looks like a few facets to build on.

As a related point - I would like to see Geelong bring in a specialist small forward coach to master class on the art - even for a month or two.

Does Brad Johnson not count for the last point?

Is he still involved?

I thought it was only a part time role and only for one summer?

Happy to be wrong

He was back for this year's preseason as well. I presumed it was going to keep happening, seemed like something the club was happy with.

Ablett should almost be doing that.. it should be pat of his role to bring one of the young players along. He is old enough to be some of these guys father.

If Geelong dratin Weightman the pressure will be on Tarca to show something in 2020..

Ablett has been a mentor to a few of the kids already

read up the comments Miers has made about this subject in various interviews

FWIW. Tarca at pick a hundred & thirteen or whatever...
Has an easy 2 years left for development.
No urgent need. With Cocky & Steven in the mix as that next small forward next year i think he is 3rd in line to breakthrough for a gig in 2020 TBH.
GAJ is in his last year so in saying that a small forward in the draft might be on the cards.
Will we target Ned Cahill, Jai Jackson, Jack Mahony in the second round?? or it could even be PICKETT???
We might be the team telling the AFL to invite him to the day one Draft??
Well there's another half a dozen pages on will we or will not get Pickett??
Cheers Boys!
