Lucas will be best 22 next year, provided he has a clean bill of health. He is much more naturally gifted than our second tier blokes like Armfield, Ellard, Joseph etc.

Lucas running down the wings with Simpson will give us nice dash and poise.

Why do you think Lucas will have the better career?

Becuase thats my opinion? Does it hurt you that someone didn't pick the player from your team?

We've obviously been watching different players...i have always found his disposal and decision making in traffic to be very good. Only thing i have questioned is his work in tight at stoppages.

He is one of the cleanest movers we've drafted in some time.

Chris Yarran?

But honestly Lucas' biggest deficiency when being drafted was his average disposal and it hasn't improved all that much. To put him in the top bracket of the comp is laughable. I've been to most Bullants games this year and his disposal (and decision-making) hasn't been up to standard in a solid number of games.
I'm not writing him off by any means, I still think he'll be a good player, but calling him an elite kick is just pure hyperbole.

I agree with this. I love Sugar and think he will be starting 22 next year... however I can see Marc Murphy early days disposal with him... where he kicks it too often over the head.

He has a way with traffic, avoid tackles really well, does everything very well for an on baller... just has to clean up his disposal...

He did finish off this year in style basically being best on for us or near for most ants games and he did well when he did get a game.

Ummm... Gysberts was pick 11 - Lucas pick 12.

From what I've seen I'd take Gys > Melk > Lucas. Still young but Gys is a better size and hard and tough at ball and contest. Been better than the other two so far and will be very good in the Dees future midfield.

Lucas will be much better if he gets his body right and his head screwed on straight. Not sure if either of those things will eventuate while he is still at Carlton. Gysberts and Melksham could go either way, I'm not much of a wrap for either of them to be honest. Melksham definitely won't develop into the blue chip midfielder the Dons need going forward.

Oh really? Explain his BOG performance against Geelong, rewarded with 3 Brownlow votes. Are you sure he definitely won't become elite?

You are allowed your opinion, I suppose.

Melksham has been better so far but if Lucas can get a full pre-season in and stay injury free then I expect him to overtake Melksham next year.

Is it just me or does Melksham have a really punchable face? Maybe its just the big teeth.

Oh well in that case he is bound to be named in the next team of the century

lol its definetely the chompers

The only question I have over Melksham is his fitness. He has never been able to run out a game, let alone a season, and needs to improve this area a heap.

If he can do that I have no doubt he will become a very very good player. He has the toughness, skill and arrogance to succeed.

Haven't seen much of Lucas though, so it is very hard to compare.
