Beat the best ruckman in the comp today, no doubt.
His second efforts were superb, and if not the most improved player in the comp, he's bloody close to it.
Very good game today.:thumbsu:

I agree hes probably the most improved player in the comp, struggled to get a game last year til I think it was Carlton v Melb in the 2nd last game of the year, and he was a late replacement for someone and kicked 6 or 7 against us, love the way he goes about it!

Did Jamar really own Sandilands today?

I think that between Johnson and Jamar we had Sandilands covered, which was helped a lot by Johnson having one of his best ever games, but we can't forget that Sandilands had 14 more hitouts than Jamar.

Easily the 2nd best ruckman in the league though, and got as close as anyone can get to beating Sandilands today.

You watched it closer than me, and I was at the game.
But I was very impressed with Jamar's second efforts, they were top class.

Didn't watch the game but going off the stats Sandilands dominated Jamar. In fact, the stats suggest Johnson's (other Melbourne ruck) performance was equal or better than Jamar.
Take the stats with a pinch of salt.

Probably was strange for Sandi to come up against two ruckmen who could give as good as they got in the body stakes, and between Jamar and Johnson, Sandilands was pretty well nullified.

In the end, it was probably the two back-ups in Johnson and Bradley who had more of an impact around the ground.

Jamar's taken 5 years to become an "overnight success"...

In all honesty, he's had his ups and down (as has his team) but he's always shown abilty and has gradually been improving over the years IMO. There were times as a 20yo playing second string to Jeff White that he showed up his more credentialled ruck partner but was one of those players that has never attracted hype and was under rated for a long time. It's good to see him finally get the recognition.

Not really. He took his game to another level in an injury interrupted 2009 and has taken even bigger strides in 2010. Far from gradual.

Very good game today.:thumbsu:

If you are talking about most improved ruckmen then it would have to Wayde Skipper. If you are going to be base it on second efforts, Skipper has him covered there too. Last 5 weeks averaged 13 disposals, 3 clearances and 5 tackles a game with only 60% game time. Just saying.

P.S. Not suggesting Skipper is a better ruckmen than Jamar.
