Who cares about disposal averages for a key forward? They’re not particularly relevant.

He’s also kicked 40+ goals in each of those three seasons. Why not include that statistic?

How many other key forwards have done that?

Naughton may be better off behind the ball, but let’s not pretend he’s not a quality forward. He very clearly is.
Disposals are a key measure if you are a mobile key forward also getting lots done up the ground like Jezza, St Nick or peak Bud. Doesn't seem to mean much for most of them though. Goals, bringing the ball to ground and a bit of defensive pressure are the three things I look for from a key forward.

Oddly, I was the least worried about him leaving out of the JUH-Naughton-Bailey Smith trio.
Ditto - Baz and English would be far more 'gettable' than Marra, and by all accounts English is pretty settled in Melbourne

Great list of names you listed here but you replied to someone pointing out hes kicked 40+ 3 years in a row please tell me whos on that list and if any of the ones named here are?
Hawkins, Fritsch, McKay, Charlie Cameron, Jack Riewoldt, Lance Franklin, Tex, Daniher, Toby, Larkey, Kozie, Jeremy Cameron, Miochek, Charlie Curnow have all kicked 120+ goals a cross the last 3 seasons.

Many others didn’t get there because they missed footy with injury like the Kings, Peter Wright etc

The 1.9 goals a game I thought covered that off, regardless 40 goals a season is a long way from elite, I did a quick count and in past 3 season 38 players have scored 40 goals or more in a single season, including A graders like Mabior Chol, Tyson Stengel, Todd Marshall, Oli Henry, Jake Stringer etc

Why not just answer the question instead of shifting the goalposts and making excuses as to why others didn't get there?

I'll do it for you - the answer is 3 - Taylor Walker, Tom Hawkins and Aaron Naughton.

He's in pretty good company there, wouldn't you say?

Criticising someone like Naughton because he only touches the ball 11.4 times per game is a bit silly when a third of his touches over the past 3 years have hit the scoreboard.

It's arguing for the sake of arguing, and about as relevant as being critical of Jacob Weitering for a lack of hitouts.

i wasnt trying to do that. I like naughton and if he was interested in hawthorn I would chuck the sink at getting him.

I do think he makes a better KPD, but he is a gun wherever you play him.

Surely in the conversation of Ben King or JUH, JUH is ten streets ahead?

Id stop turning up to training if I was JUH id be that insulted by 650k

Ability to not get injured every 5 seconds and to actually touch the football?

Not even close

Ben King is a better mark and considerably harder for defenders to match upon though.

For Key Fowards, they are are completely different kettle of fish.

Any club would be delighted to have either.

Jamarra is more athletic and speedy, but I think King is a better/more reliable set shot on goal and physically more capable to cope with 1 on 1 intense defending as well ad being a fantastic contested marker.

Charlie Curnow won 2 Coleman's in a row after practically missing 2 years and a bit of footy through knee injury issues.

Oscar Allen I believe also missed a significant time away though injury before his amazing and elite/aa worthy season in 2023.

As mentioned Jamarra is 99% staying. The 1% is really just waiting for it to be announced but he's gone publicly on record saying hes staying and all ITKs have said the deal is done already

Max King is a better mark not Ben
