In today modern game i think its a great thing that we will have both Naughton and jamara who are in that sweet spot with height

The really tall guys struggle with agility and pace

JUH and Naughton have those two attributes in spades - not to mention they both have a elite running vertical jump, which mitigates any concern on their height.

Will be the perfect combination in our forward setup. Both are contested marking specialists but also won't be liabilities in terms of defensive pressure. Not only tackling but also closing down the space will provide crucial time for our defensive setups to be put into place.

Also JUH will get time to develop into our forward line. With lack of gametime this year I'm hopeful he gets 2-3 VFL/scratch matches in next year before coming into the team. We won't need to rush him.

How bloody exciting is it going to be watching Naughton and JUH play in the same forward line next year? Holy s**t!

Who do we think would be better at CHF and FF? Seems like Naughton is a beast in both spots. An animal up the ground on the lead but also makes the defender s**t himself when he’s deep.

I don’t think it can be stressed enough how bad Bevo’s media presser earlier in the year advocating for the draft age to be lifted was. If that happened, with the new NGA ruled introduced we would have missed out on JUH next year. Have no idea why he said it at the time knowing rules would have been changed. And I can’t for the life of me work it out now.

There is no way the AFL will change draft rules in a major way for the current year given future picks have already been traded. Rule changes will always be 12 months+. We get Jamarra in this year's draft.

Maybe because he thinks it's the right thing to do despite it potentially having some speculative negative effect on the club he coaches.. not everyone acts out of pure self interest.

Are we expecting juh to come in and play as a key forward straight away of do we think he will play more a half forward role in his first couple of years similar to nick Blakey?

I think we'd be better off leaving him deep forward like Max King to start with. He doesn't seem to have the tank at the moment (based on last year) to play high half forward/wing. Especially considering he'd be lacking in fitness from this year

So you think it would be a good thing that guys like Matt Rowell, Walsh, Bailey Smith shouldn’t be allowed to enter the draft at 18 and should be made to wait 12 months? Ridiculous

This, just about every single team has an 18 year old getting regular games these days. Do people that advocate changing the draft age not realise that these 19 year olds are so much more ready because they’ve had a year in the system. Yeah let’s set them back a year in an already short career so they can spend it in our average underage systems.

Maybe if we recognised that AFL is a perfectly fine career choice and let kids focus on it from the age of like 15, like every other professional sport in the world, the standard of footy wouldn’t decrease every single year.

Probably could afford having 3 talls, considering Naughton nor JUH would ever be considered defensive liabilities.

Then it's just, do we pick a 2nd ruck to assist English. Or do we think English and Bruce can do the job.

I expect JUH to spend maybe 2-3 weeks in the VFL/scratch matches just because not many draftees have played much this year.

I’d be completely happy if Jamarra plays 10 games next year. He looks fairly light from everything I’ve seen and it’s rare for 18 year olds to walk into an AFL best 22, even more so for KPP’s. Not every draftee is Aaron Naughton

I'd be surprised if any draftee plays more than 15 games next year. Simply haven't had the chance to mix it with the best.

Maybe McDonald if he goes to Adelaide gets 15 games, cause he's played a good patch of WAFL games.

Having Bruce & Naughton should in theory be great for the early year or two of development. He looks agile enough to be able to play as a third tall early on, also meaning he likely won't be taken by the number 1 or 2 defender straight away.

This is assuming he is ready to play some footy next year. In saying that, he couldn't produce any worse than say Dale or Lloyd have produced this year in terms of output and forward pressure.

I agree...I see Jamarra playing more the Josh Hill type third tall role for a few games next year. I don't expect him to play every game like Bailey Smith has. Half a dozen to a dozen games perhaps.
