We have academy players to obtain with those picks that would be used in the bidding system
Didn't think about that. fwiw our head of recruiting has been really trashing the quality of this years draft so offering two second rounders is probably their preference. Especially if we can/want to convince Seedsman to stay.

Basically I'd imagine our goal is to get Keays, Hipwood and Schache in this draft. They're all in the top 20ish players in the pool according to a fair few projections I've read.

Beyond that any surplus picks would be used to pick up players like Astbury, Jansen, Suckling, Bell ect.

I can't see the club valuing Seedsman or Oxley above the flexibility two picks in the 20's gives us. It's equivalent to about pick 4 in the bidding system from memory.

25 is what I'd hope we get for Freeman (anything less in this shallow draft and I'd prefer we force him into the PSD). I think the best you'll get from us is 25 + Seedsman or Oxley.
As I said, I'd be looking around for a better deal that better suits our needs than 25 + Seedsman/Oxley, especially if Aish does not nominate a club. The clear preference is still to re-sign Aish.

I suppose we could offer our second round pick as well however (a) could easily be part of Treloar deal and (b) in what apparently is a very shallow draft Seedsman/Oxley may be >>> our second round pick.
a) It seems unlikely your second round pick would be part of the Treloar deal at this stage, and if Aish wants to move to Collingwood there's a fair chance the Treloar deal gets prioritized anyway.
b) We'd rather use the second rounders to pay for Hipwood, Keays, William, Wagner and/or Chol from our academy, or on-trade/downgrade them for the likes of Jansen, Bell, Astbury or Grimley that we've been linked to (what a murderer's row that is). Seedsman and Oxley offer nothing towards either of those scenarios.

Is there any other teams?
On trade radio this week Barrett mentioned that there hasn't been much interest in him from other clubs lately and that's why he could end up staying in Brisbane.

He said mid year he had a few suitors but interest has cooled.

It really is feeling like the Dustin Martin saga.

Does pick 25 on it's own for Aish work? Or do you want steak knives as well.

Apparently Seedsman has asked for a trade but I hope he changes his mind because he does have a bit of talent but on exposed form has poor market value.

Oxley is also mentioned as a possible trade piece. Likewise I don't think he has much trade value and showed enough this season for me to not want him to leave. He cops a lot of crap on our board because he is an uncontested player but his kicking is elite, reads the play well and has good hands. It's something that might turn him into a handy player long term imo.
So pick 35 for Freeman then?

I wonder why no one's interested. Very talented player with a good head on his shoulders.
Gut feel is he and Pickering are probably asking for a disproportionate contract price. That is the only reason I can think for him to not name a club at this stage, or even have no solid rumours.

Maybe clubs are baulking at the contract he is after or the trade requirements (1st rounder) that Brisbane want.

Think he will just sit back and see how it plays out and if no better opportunity presents he will accept Brisbane's offer; which dollar wise is meant to be pretty good.

My mail is that North's first round pick for Aish is all but done.....could be wide of the mark though. I know for a fact that North's picks are up for trade, not for mature age players, but for 20-25 year olds needing a fresh start. There is interest in Treloar but we don't have the assets to trade for him and it might upset our wage structure if North brought him in... Hall from the Suns is in the mix too. Josh Kelly is the one North really want but GWS aren't budging at the moment.

Sounds like Hawksay be the front runners now.

Would love him at the Saints though. Would be happy to give up pick 5 for Aish and Brisbanes second.

Could leave the Saints with Billings, Aish, Freeman, Dunstan and Acres from that draft.

If your mail is correct, I'd be willing to offer our first for Aish. :thumbsu:

Treloar has already nominated Collingwood, so would it matter if we don't have the assets to trade for him? If he wants to go to Collingwood then it's a moot point re: wage structure.

I read an article stating that Hall had agreed to terms with GC and he'll re-sign soon, can you shed light on this?

And Josh Kelly. Kitchen. Sink. BFNAAK too, so I'd be throwing the farm at him.

I'm interested in a PM if you don't want this info public.

Norwood, Redbacks.
Suckling an UFA according to afl.com.
No need to trade for him if Brisbane or anyone else really want him.
Aish may not return what Brisbane are hoping for. His stock will have been hurt by his performance and attitude this season.
Bit like Freeman from Collingwood. Clearly has elite potential and talent, but circumstances might mean he returns a little less than his talent suggests via trade.
Performance may have been disappointing but how can you say his attitude has hurt him. Seems to have carried himself well amidst media and Big Footy speculation. Don't judge his attitude by the media. I think his attitude has been as good as Dangerfield's this season. Ask those in the Brisbane circle and you will get positives.

I can't see a late first rounder getting it done. My guess is that the club he is going to be dealing with is still playing finals.
