Why would Aish and Gibbs be in the same sentence ?

They weren't. They weren't even in the post I was replying to.

Rejecting a player just because they once didn't pursue a chance to come to Adelaide is cutting your nose off to spite yourself. We don't even know if we ask Aish to come home last year yet Cleric wants him to 'rot'

What are you basing this on? An already discredited rumour that the Pies may have floated Aish as a trade option?
What kind of a soft**** doesn't want to play for the club he grew up supporting because he can't handle the pressure of his surname? Get real James! As a supporter, I get offended when a player who I think should come to the Crows doesn't come.

Come on that was a generation ago and there was only Michael Aish - his father Andrew was just another Trevor Chappell. If he can't cope with being compared to a past uncle then he hasn't got it for AFL. I didn't see the Robrans or Eberts have a mental problem with this and their fathers were in a different league to James' uncle.
Andrew Aish was still a pretty decent player, good enough to play for state footy for SA, although he retired early to be a Physio.
Calling him "another Trevor Chappell" is just stupid.

I agree. James Aish sounds like an absolute soft****.

People are different. Not everybody wants to stay where they were born and stay there for good. Some actually want to get out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. It seems odd that people would condemn him to being a soft**** because he's left the safety net of his family.

Trevor Chappell played test cricket - Not many tests, obviously, especially compared to his brothers. I thought the comparison was pretty apt

Must admit Aish impressed me in the latter half of the season with some of his games. My only worry is that if we get Gibbs and him, then we'll have two players who really don't go in for the hard ball - would prefer another hard nut with some decent level of skills I'm afraid (like MCrouch but with the ability to kick over a jam tin).

I worshipped his uncle when I was a kid as a mad redlegs fan and I really wanted him at the crows. Huge question marks if he is made of the right stuff to win a flag. We need a hard nuts

This guy is the second coming of David Mackay. One good season early in his career, can't even come close to backing it up

While I do agree the major difference is that he is still very young and has been at two Clubs where he probably was allowed to act like his shit didn't stink. Being back home may put his life and what he wants to achieve in perspective.

If we got him cheap he would be worth the small risk.

Andrew was a good solid player as was T Chappell. James Aish may or may not be in Michael Aish's shadow but he certainly isn't in Andrew's.
