At the end of his career, he will be remembered for what he achieved throughout his career, not where he achieved said things. Hypothetically, if he were to return to SA, win a Brownlow, a Premiership or two, and receive All-Australian honours multiple times, I'm reasonably sure he would be widely considered as somebody who forged their own name in the AFL.

Certainly. I just think he'd also have the SA media spot light on him much more than he does now, and for some players that pressure to live up to what your heritage says you should can be to much.

Who knows, it may not affect him and it may even drive him further. Or he might be happy to remain out of that and in a state where he isnt analised quite so much.

Hasn't really been a problem for Brad Ebert.

Like I said before, if Aish wants to leave after just two years then thats his decision and Im sure we've done as much as we can to try and change his mind.

Worse case scenario though is that you'll have to try and get him in the PSD, and for that he could end up anywhere. Leigh Matthews was serious when he said in the media that no 2 year players will be getting free rides to where they demand to go.

In that scenario there's always the possibility we will come up with a fair trade.

Anyway who knows -,you've done a decent job of retaining SA playersc so far. Redden won't come back and Mayes looks settled. It's only Polec.

Honestly, what else would you expect him to say? He's doing nothing more than toeing the party line in public - which is exactly what he should do. But don't read into that that Brisbane is chaining up its two-year players in the basement. If the kid wants to go - and the deal is reasonable for Brisbane, they'll look at it.

I do feel sorry for Brisbane supporters reading posts like these. We know what it feels like with Davis and Gunston etc, so I try to be polite about it with them. And unlike Sydney, if Aish did come home Adelaide would offer Brisbane fair compensation.
I was going to say, we'd be the type of team that would make sure Brisbane got a fair deal if he was to request a trade back to Adelaide. They seemed to try really hard with Polec to find a combo of players/picks to try and satisfy the Lions last year.

I would've thought a high 1st rounder or a quality player would be fair.
We don't have a high 1st rounder - Brisbane would want a top 10 pick and I can't see a quality player on our list that we'd be willing to give up that you'd also want.

It would be a 1st rounder in the teens and probably a player that has some potential but is unable to break into the side, a trade I don't think Brisbane would be keen in (obviously if Aish was to say he wants out no matter what then things might change a little).

Agreed. It would rely completely on Aish wanting out, and only wanting to go to the Crows, or otherwise we really don't have anything we can offer that they would take.

Can't even think of players we would offer up....

We tried to offer up players for Polec and couldn't make it work.

No matter what any of us nuffies say, they're a close unit down at West Lakes and no one seems to be aching to leave Adelaide.

I think we'd do a pick in the teens and a pick in 40's, if he wanted to leave and named us. That's pretty fair, and I would want us to be.

We would get it done for sure. When something like that comes up you just get it done. Last time no one wanted to go up to Brisbane so most likely would be to trade our first and a player to a Vic team and on trade to Brisbane

Retrospect is a fantastic thing.
Not to derail the thread but many said this at the time including me. When Essendon and Collingwood say at the time, Carey is not worth a first round draft pick and we virtually give up two, then there is something wrong. We chose to chase a guy at the end of his career who couldn't lift his arms above his head any more instead of an up and coming champion. All so we could challenge for a flag the following year.

Higher draft picks on our list than Aish? Doughnuts.

Players on our list drafted lower than pick 7 in recent years? Dangerfield, Smith Talia.

He is on track to play 20 games in his debut year and he has played very good footy.

Get real folks, he is worth a single digit draft pick. Unless we make like bandits, we will never see him in a Crows jumper.

That's actually best case scenario for us.
We over fair trade value,
Brisbane say get stuffed he can go into PSD,
Other clubs overlook him because he wants to play for Adelaide,
Adelaide get him for nothing (unless Port finish lower than us).

I would have thought that if we really wanted him and we could convince him to come home, we could trade our way into a single digit draft pick and get him.

We can get a single digit draft pick for Dangerfield, Sloane, Talia, Walker, Smith and Brad Crouch. Would you do the deal?

We could get a late first round pick for Douglas or Jacobs.

It doesn't matter if we give another club ten second round draft picks / players we are not getting a single digit pick in return. It's about quality not quantity.

Many believe that the go home factor caused Aish to slip to number 7 and he is a genuine top 3. Whilst it is early days, I would only take Bontempelli before Aish from last year's draft. Aish is 3rd favourite for the Rising start behind Bontempelli (thank god GWS are stupid or they would be even harder to beat in future years) and Dunstan.

Stop dreaming folks.
