If this were the case, then they surely would be doing so with the belief (from aish's manager) that he won't re-sign any time soon and wants to come home. If so, we should be pushing to do the deal this year unless we have other plans for that pick. Brisbane would get a slightly better deal this year, while we guarantee the return of aish.

If anything got done this year the media would hang Brisbane out to dry for letting him go. He's their major positive of the whole year.

I don't think he'll leave, or at least not so soon. Brisbane will be desperate to keep him after all their recent player losses, and Aish is supposed to be a great lad with a high degree of integrity/loyalty. Not the Polec/Tippett/Gunston etc. style entitlement complex going on there. Brisbane definitely would have done all they can to get a read on that, given that they were fresh out of a trade period that lost them so many quality youngsters.
I suppose Davis was probably seen in this way when we drafted him, though. Aish really would be on a lot more coin at Brisbane in his second contract than what we could offer him, though. Their list managers would have to be ****ing awful for that not to be the case. I guess we'll just have to hope the pull of SA is strong enough to draw him back at some stage.

dont know why there is such optimism! brisbane would be absolutely spewing about the exodus last year and doing everything they can to make people like aish feel uncomfortable about doing the same, as well as offering him more than we ever would for a player that age to re-sign. i hope he does of course but head says no! pretty similar player to brad crouch ay?

Not only would we have to convince Brisbane to let him go, convince James of the benefits of moving back to Adelaide but we would also be competing with Poort Power. If we pull it off, many kudos to the staff at Adelaide.
Davis is a good a good bloke, but he got an offer too good to refuse so you've just got to take that. Problem with us getting Aish is that surely we can't afford to make a similarly sized cash offer to seal the deal.

do we even know if the Adelaide list management team are even keen on him (has anything been said, im unaware)? obviously a prodigious talent, but that doesn't mean we would be 'obviously' targeting him. I for one am keen on him because of the flow on effect a trade like this would have on our club (not just what he would add on field), it would be a massive boost from a confidence aspect.
could aish then be considered surplus to needs already?, or even put into the 'we're dreaming' basket? if I were Brisbane, I would throw in everything I've got to keep him, because if he goes, so does all confidence in that club (both internal and external). Doomsday I know but not unlikely. Not that I give a toss about the bears.

I think Brisbane was the last club we wanted to have drafted Aish considering what happened to them last year - They'll be doing absolutely everything to make sure they keep this next crop of draftees and will pay whatever they have to for that to happen....

High on character. A reverse Gunston. Can see him being a one club player, despite initial reservations about the state of Brisbane
Absolutely. At least Davis was honest about his intentions and I can respect that. Gunston blind-sided the club and by nominating Hawthorn, screwed us hard at the trade table. Dog act.
His parents fly to every game. Thats not sustainable long term. He'll have to be a good son and play closer to home.
Secondly, the only reason he slipped to 7 and Brisbane was because everyone else knew he would come home. While I will feel sorry for Brisbane, if he does come home their problem will be entirely their own making. Everyone knew. As we know only too well, you should never make dumb decisions based on the premise you'll be able to change someone's mind down the track.
And those suggesting this fine, upstanding crows boy might end up at port need a reality check.
