I think this is just Leppa giving him a bit of a kick up the arse. He hasnt signed yet, he played an average game (he didnt deserve to get dropped from one poor game in round 1 after a great last year) and so this is just him putting it back on Aish.
The kids all class and anyone who says otherwise it just plain nuts.

His class hasn't been questioned, in fact the opposite is true. The current discussion is centred around his intensity and whether the lack of it resulted in his omission. I do agree with your first point, which aligns with the queries I've posed. It's up to James to bounce back and I'm confident he will, but it can't be argued it's been the start to a year that results in a big contract offer and an early first plus sweetener heading to BNE. Plenty of water to flow, but surely it's worth discussing as we go. I'm sure the club haven't come to a firm position on his contract or trade value, so why would we have here.

These last few pages have been a hilarious read.

He played a stinker, and his coach is sending him a message.

But please, continue. As I said, hilarious...

It's a recruit James Aish thread mate. His value and our desire to recruit him wasn't locked in a vault at the end of last year. What the hell are we going to discuss throughout the year if not his on-field performances and how they impact our thinking.

Ok here you go TexS.

James had a poor game and seemingly incurred the wrath of the coach. No discussion to be entered into. Drugs Are Bad Mackay? or Allefgib can you please lock this thread until James is back in the one's and playing well so we have something to discuss.

Yeah.. cause you're really a club on the rise.. The only good thing you have going is Dasher in your coaching box.
Hawthorn have 0 chance of poaching him after resigning Gibson, Mitchell and Hodge to 2016 so I hope he enjoys Port :)

Wasn't Dasher in our coaching box while we were 2nd or 3rd for points scored but still missed the 8 last year?

(Of course I don't consider Dasher responsible, his mate Sando on the other hand)

On radio last night in pre gamethey were talking about how much people over react after round 1, both relating to good and bad performances, and it's suddenly like everything that was known/thought pre round 1 is forgotten.

These last few pages may have been their motivation for that topiC.

Well, obviously Leppa's wasn't watching. He's over-reacted to a rnd 1 performance, give him a call and let him know he's made a blue.

James has been replaced by Zac O'Brien. The lions continually get smashed in contested ball = 18th in 2014. This is not the go for James, where as the less talented Zac will be at the bottom of packs fighting hard.

Love a conspiracy theory as much as the next person. In this case the selection is clearly addressing a deficiency, and one of the least well performed players from last week paid the price. Good thing is James is clearing the way for Sam Mayes to start. ;)

Only just less than 6 months more of this thing to go, be kind!!

im not saying dropping a player after a bad game is an over reaction.

saying that it means that player isn't giving his all as he isn't committed to that club as being the reason for that poor performance is though. Taking that a step further and saying that makes them undesirable to recruit is even more so.

To use 1 Brisbane supporters comment that he may not be happy with where he is being played or how he is being used as added justification doesn't help either. 1 comment on big footy is far from making it far.

Some people need to have a Cold Shower!

Agree with that, but I've only posed questions based on if's. He might have cracked the shits and been punished by Leppa. He might respond in remarkable fashion and prove him wrong over and over throughout the year. It could be a great learning experience that makes him a better footballer overall. When a player that has a thread dedicated to trading for him gets dropped, surely it's worth throwing around a few if's and maybe's. Isn't thst what we do around here. If he'd racked up 40 at 100%, kicking 6 along the way, you can bet this thread would be filled with "$500k and 2 firsts, gotta get this guy". He has a stinker and gets dropped, and we're meant to put up the "no comment, rnd 1 glitch" shutters.

The kid is in his second year and has less than a handful of bad games . Sloane barely debut at corresponding time
He's always been a gun at every level and will be the same at AFL level and he most likely wants to play for us so it's a rare chain of events we have to make happen

I really dont know how to rate James. I think he is a great prospect but im not sure whether he will reach the heights people here expect him to.

Its hard to pick but theres just nothing that screams out to me like a Dangerfield, Martin or Fyfe. We will be paying a huge price to get him so we want the best.

So someone on BF, a Brisbane poster ( noting he hasn't signed with them ) comes out with "he's tanking " - and suddenly no one wants him?

F...me - as if we haven't been burnt enough the other way around. I could give 2 sh...ts about his motives up there. All I care about is that we get him next year.

Start pre season now for all I care.

Thank God for these posts that finally brought some sanity back into the discussion.

Aish is a gun - simple as that. That's why Brisbane are offering a 2nd year player $1.2 million for 3 years, even though he has been dropped for this game.

Every player has a down day and Aish had a relatively quiet game last week with 13 disposals. However it does smell a little bit of dummy spitting by Leppitsch to drop him after 1 quiet game given that he was a first choice player all last year - and a good one at that.

If a team dropped players after one quiet game they'd make around 6 to 8 changes every week on average.

For me, it's a simple as that I hope like hell that he's wearing a Crows jumper next year.

Sure unca macca, it's all Leppitsch. im not saying he's no good or won't end up being a star, because that's still the trajectory he's on, but he's obviously displeased the selectors. Because, as you say, dropping him after a single poor game is not the standard response. I do think having put off contract talks, he will be judged much harsher than others. And I understand that brisbane have that luxury, because Aish isn't going to be the difference between a flag or not this year. But it's still a worthy topic of discussion in a James Aish thread.

I have no credible info re Aish
. At this time but tried..

Well as his destination of choice is in South Australia I'm thinking that we're a 50/50 chance.

Jenny, what's the point of saying you have info if you won't (or can't) say it?

I thought I did? o_O Perhaps you weren't taking notice?

So just to confirm: Aish definitely wants to come back to SA, and you have a credible source for that information?
