Anyone with any inside info on Aish? Heard nothing in Brisbane except the fact the he is South Australian royalty or something?? I suspect he is leaving at the end of the year but to which club? Strong murmurs are coming out of AFL heartland that a few Vic clubs are taking a keen interest in him.

Of course the Victorian media would hype it up. If a player is leaving, they will always try to link it back to vic for a few more website hits or sold newspapers.

Your miss quoting what Brown said he said that it should be a minimum of three yeat contract for when a kid first comes into the AFL

I actually do agree with this and I would like to see the end of FA. All it has achieved so far is to strengthen the hold that the top 4-6 teams have.

As was proved with Tom Boyd last year, whatever length contract means little if the player wants to leave.

A KPP for a package.

Plus we all know Aish is SANFL royalty or something like that.
so basically you want talia or walker? 2 players either already AA or very much in contention for it/coleman. lol.

If he goes to Port I would like to know what their cap is at. They are already at 105% to accommodate Paddy Ryder's salary. Being that close to the brink without any consideration to bringing in a key forward for Schultz (who is now cooked) could close their premiership windoqw quicker than losing Walsh to hold "Kern's" hand.

They remind me of us in 05/06. Good backline and mids, but no key forward. Paddy ant a key forward, he is a Ruckman.

Paying Aish 400-500k to get him would further imbalance their list.

What could we offer Brisbane?

Playerwise, I can't see us putting a KPP on the table; maybe Hartigan if we were super confident about Lever's development, but I wouldn't bet on it; same goes with Jenkins.

I'd think maybe it'd end up being our first and second round draft pick, and potentially a reasonable player; Lyons/Grigg; someone who is quality, without being a star. D-Mac?

I have not heard good things on how the club approached and sold itself to Polec, compared to how Port went about it. One was a "You should be thankful a club like us would want you" while the other was "We'd love it if a player like you would want to play for us".

I got a similar impression; Port sold themselvs and went all out to convince him to come over - we expected him to, and basically acted as though he'd be a moron to go anywhere else.

Surely our first draft pick would be the starting point - ie First round + +

I like Aish, but what need is he filling? Let's say we lose Danger, it certainly ain't a like-for-like player. I think our priorities really would be elsewhere. No idea why Port would want him either (other than class)

More rumblings on Twitter today. Paige Cardona says Aish has knocked back Brisbane's offer and that Adelaide are "pretty confident they'll land him". Sam McClure saying the Power are the frontrunners.

... and Hutchy reckons he'll stay and Barrett says Collingwood are where he'll end up and Derwayne said he was chatting to James's father's barber's accountant who says he's definitely on the way to Fremantle.

Welcome to the AFL Media's prediction dartboard.

It's a shame Port are going to have an earlier draft pick to offer Brisbane!!

Who are you going to give us? Remember we desperately need a KPF that isn't a project player and we already have enough Motlops.
Our first round pick wouldn't do it? I would have thought that and maybe a fringe player (someone like Matt Wright) would enough for a homesick pick #7 from 2 years ago.

Starting to look like Ten Goal Tommy Lynch will be heading north
I would not do that deal. Lynch is young, very much best 22 and wants to be here. Its bad for the culture trading away guys like that.

Your first round pick is looking like it will be pretty late.

Given our draft sanctions we need to correct our "age profile".

I'd definitely spend our 1st round pick (and 2nd round pick swap) on Aish.

M. Crouch and Cameron and Lever as emerging youngsters.

Plus ROB and Ramsey on Rookie list look promising.

It is likely we would have to trade a fringe player for an early second round pick, then offer Brisbane that plus our first round or Danger compo pick. I doubt we would have any players that either BNE would be interested in or we would part with. I agree with Bring back Bas that we should not trade someone who is best 22 for a player who is riding purely on potential at this stage.

Aish would be best 22 in most midfields I would imagine.
