We need to do everything we can to get Aish. After watching his first two years at Norwood as a 16-17-18 year old he is a gun and WILL win a Brownlow medal before his career is over. Give the Lions whatever they want (1st round pick, fringe player etc).

What Leppa is doing to Aishy is disgraceful, he needs to be playing every game. Personally I hope he doesn't play another game this season as we won't have to give up as much for him.

Ok so he isn't playing because he is leaving next year but the lions say it is a form thing.
If I was the lions I would be playing him to increase value in him. But there not and he isn't really setting the world on fire in the reserves is he?? QUESTION how good is he??

Pickering is only happy if he goes to a Vic club. Give him his marching orders Aishy.
I often wonder if managers get kickbacks from club x y z to get players over the line to their club - whilst I'm sure it's verboten in their contract with whatever association they belong to surely there are backchannels via the old boys networks - in which Pickering would be a member...

round 1 BOG. 25 touches, 9 clearances, 4 tackles and a goal.
round 4 2nd best for BL. 19 touches, 5 clearances, 3 tackles.

I'd rather play the guys who are in form and having a crack. Big fan of what Leppitsch is doing. Team first.

Setting a standard of rewarding players for doing the right thing will reap greater rewards than a higher draft pick gained by playing a guy who doesn't want to be here and/or isn't playing well enough to hold his spot.

They must know he's going, they are shit and don't want to waste development on him

I imagine that would be akin to insider trading? However I wouldn't put it past any of these managers to set up side deals with clubs to get a player to them.

Yes we do

But not sure if we need more pedestrian leg speed

I would like to target a player that is the full package that is has speed, makes good decisions and uses the ball well

Don't get me wrong I would be pleased to land him at the right price however I won't die in the ditch if we don't

IMO will have a good AFL career, however not a great career
Sure! Andrew McLeod types grow on trees and are piss easy to get!

This whole Aish scenario is pretty unsettling to be honest.

Brisbane acting up, Pickering acting up - Aish caught in the middle.

I am just going to worry about it come the end of the season.

Pretty obvious that Aish has left the building as far as the Lions are considered. Its now whether which Club he chooses as his destination is the unknown piece of the puzzle. Personally I dont think he would be interested in going to a Club like Carlton. Literally on its knees for the next 3-4 years.

When he will be 24 or 25 you mean? Player don't look at a club today, they look at what a club might become tomorrow.

right in his prime.

how far away are we do you think we are?

I'm with you. I'd love aish at the club but I think our first round draft pick could be much better spent. I'd only chase aish if we lost danger.
How do you think we would spend it better than on Aish? Assuming we end up with a pick around the 10-14 range wouldn't landing the no.7 pick from 2 years ago be a huge win. Or is this draft supposed to be stronger or something?

The Aish thing just doesnt seem right for some reason.
1. Everyone would think that our club would be into him like crazy. He is talent and we need his type of outside skills. Also remember we were crazy about him as a jr and tried to see if we could get him fs. So why are all the reports saying we havent shown much interest? Why wouldnt we want an "Aish" to play for the club? Somethings not right here.
2. Why would Aish want to leave Brisbane just to end up in another state? He isnt very media happy, so it has nothing to do with trying to get him on the footy show etc. So why would he want to go to Victoria? You would think he would want to come home. Again, doesnt make sence.
3. Cant be about money because Brisbane has already offered him a three year deal for 1.2 mill. Very few kids in their 3rd year are on that coin. Crouch, Wines, Omera etc are not on that money yet. So whats it about?
I just dont know.

Were still a ways off from matching it with the big boys but Carlton are still a ways off matching it with the little boys, and what's scary is I don't even think this will be the year they hit rock bottom the next 2 years will be worse IMO.

A new voice (coach) and a few years of good draft picks can turn it around very quickly. See Port and Western bulldogs.

To be fair to Leppa, Aish didn't make himself undroppable the 2 games he has played. Why persist and develop a player that isn't going to be there next year. Pickers is being a tool on this, it's ok to shop your player around with no intention of remaining at the club, but they must still be played to ensure maximum value. The reality is that this year is a write-off for him, everyone knows what's going on and he'll be rated on his 2014.

This is nothing but a positive I reckon we haven't heard much. It's obvious we would be into him, no doubt at all whatsoever. Just because our Ceo and list managers aren't parading around like proud peacocks backs up what the AFC have been trying to do in the last 6 months. Keep everything in house and only comment on things when it has been announced. Its not different with sydney and franklin, only in the last 2 days did anyone suggest he was going up there. Its better for clubs wanting to attract a player to keep it quiet and work it out behind closed doors. The other benefit with not playing it out in the media, if it doesn't work out we can then say we were never seriously interested :D

We are massively into him but we do things differently these days , lets see if it comes up trumps

Fagan was asked about it the other day and I liked his response. We don't talk about our own player negotiations, why would we comment about another clubs?

If nothing is hitting the media about us we are doing a bloody good job.

I'm not 100% sure about the strength of it, but I have heard its packed full of very quick mids which I feel we need more than an aish type. Even a kpp would be a better get. This is obviously just my opinion though.

Edit: I did hear one of the reason saints took mccartin over Petracca was because of the amount of quality mids in this coming draft as well.

My conspiracy theory on that is that Hawthorn have offered what they think he'll be worth, which is probably about $150k ahead of the BNE offer. I reckon they did this with Gunston also. It's a risk, but if you need that type of player and you've done your due diligence, then you really only overpay in years 1 and 2.

It does sound like a good year to have a first round pick if that is true. Bicks might be able to help out with the strength of this years crop. The recruiters always bang on about how you draft for talent, not need with early picks (although need must come into it to some degree). I think the same applies for drafting players after only 2 seasons. If the drafts are anywhere near comparable for quality, then trading our first round pick for Aish would be maximising the talent we can get with that pick. Even if we threw in our second rounder I think that is a pretty good deal. I agree that we probably need another Brodie Smith or a KPF more than Aish but it is not like Aish is another inside mid with below average skills, we do also need a player like him.
