The Lions remain uncertain whether uncontracted midfielder James Aish will remain in Brisbane. The Lions want him to stay but he has yet to decide to re-comit and has received interest from Carlton, Adelaide and StKilda.

Really hope we don't blow a 1st rounder on Aish.

His value has dropped and we better not waste our 'Danger Money'. Have to nail this trade period. 2nd rounder + fringe player with potential at most, unless he is bundled with Redden somehow then a 1st rounder may come into it.

Aish isn't driving it at this point. It's his manager.

Aish says to him where he wants to go and it's up to the manager to get him there/deal with Brisbane and whatnot.

Aish hasn't told his manager because he doesn't know! I agree it will be the manager driving things in this case - get the best offers (if there are any) and put it to him at once. Fall back position, stay at the Brions.

That could certainly be it. I don't think he's helped himself, to be honest. IMO the Brions environment is toxic at the moment. Too much partying, not enough discipline.

I'd rather Mayes but both have had seasons below their best. Mayes is contracted. Aish isn't. I'd definitely rather Mayes.

I would chose Mayes over Aish. I say this because Mayes is flexible for where he plays. He can play half back flank , half forward flank or wing

I think Aish would certainly cost us somewhere in pick 15-20 range unfortunately. Still only 2 yrs out and had 1 great year (for a first year player) and one poor year. Brisbane would certainly have grounds to suggest he still has high value. However according to Hutchy's logic, Brisbane shouldn't have any leverage and Aish should be able to walk to Adelaide via the draft (what an idiot).

This is officially depressing.
What's wrong with our club? Our best players don't want to be here and even promising young kids who grew up supporting us don't want to be here.

As I said in other thread im not disappointed with missing out on Aish as a player. IMO he's vastly overrated by some on this board but hey no need to argue, he'll be a good, solid AFL player.

What I'm disappointed about is that we couldn't get a disillusioned 2nd year player to come home to a club he supported as a kid. Did we try to ?? I mean yes he didn't go to the other mob either so maybe there was an element of the shiny lights of Melbourne but it's still something we have to work hard to change.
