If Adelaide's not good enough for them f*** them. What difference does it make if you're on a few hundred thousand a year .

As I said in other thread im not disappointed with missing out on Aish as a player. IMO he's vastly overrated by some on this board but hey no need to argue, he'll be a good, solid AFL player.

What I'm disappointed about is that we couldn't get a disillusioned 2nd year player to come home to a club he supported as a kid. Did we try to ?? I mean yes he didn't go to the other mob either so maybe there was an element of the shiny lights of Melbourne but it's still something we have to work hard to change.

We've got plenty of bikies in Adelaide. Surely some of them are Crows fans. Maybe we should hire a few for our 'recruitment' team?

It's interesting that South Aussies these days rarely want to go back home, instead opting to go to Melbourne. Cool cats.
Interesting also that Pav and Hearn, respective club captains of Freo and Eagles, are also South Aussies and never came back home.
Fak Fak fakety fak. Why?????

Pavlich tried and we turned him down for a Victorian.

We breed mentally stronger footballers? I think the main reason is as a South Australian entering the draft, you need to accept that you are almost certainly moving interstate to play football if you're drafted. There would be a lot of Victorians that think they drew the short stick by having to move interstate and a lot that fantasies about their career in Melbourne. When this doesn't happen, they also see being traded back to a Melbourne club as an easy option because there are lots of clubs who can step up to the plate and make the trade.

I would haved loved to get Aish. I think he'll be really good. But I'm convinced Brisbane will follow through with their tough stance and will refuse to trade him barring an exceptional offer. So, even before he nominated Collingwood that turned me off him. We'd end up having to pay overs, or being unable to close the deal with someone who nominated us and neither is a scenario I want.

They see Melbourne as the heartland of Football and what to experience the footy culture, exposure and opportunities that comes with that

Looks like Aish will be available at your picks in the draft, I believe you guys will have 12 and 13?
Will you guys use one of these on Aish? The Brisbane fans think you will
Not sure what the club will do and not sure what the BF fans want either. I personally don't think Aish is needed at AFC at this point so I hope the AFC passes.

if we get Geelong's first in the Danger trade, we'll have 9 and 13 or thereabouts. I'm not sure we'd value him that highly and we're targeting other outside players via trade but obviously it would depend on who else is available at those picks.

Surely would come down to what we pick up in the trade period but I would hope we would pass on him at that pick if he doesn't want to be here. He's no Danger. And I'm one who would like him at the club.

Understood - pretty boys if you ask me. Perhaps they need better mentoring from Roo, McLeod, Hart, Goody (even Tredrea) etc about the benefits of being loyal and helping out the prospects of SA footy. Soft c***ks

Looking at Collingwood's list it is easy to see why Aish wants to play there.

All of similar ages and would know each other through junior footy here in SA. Nothing better than playing footy with mates when it is at a club that does everything to make their players lives better than most clubs.

True, still shits me to tears

This idea isn't as silly as it sounds.

It's accepted that when a country or city is achieving sporting success, it boosts the economy. Everyone is happier, people go out, businesses are confident to invest and sponsorship money flows as businesses like to be associated with winners.

Therefore, the State Government should allocate say a $1millon to each crows and port as a slush fund to recruit and retain key players.

Let's bring in Dylan Shiel and make him the Minister for Keeping It Real on a nice Govt allowance.

Really seems like the last 12 months of Sanderson's contract (plus Trigg and co) damaged the club's reputation. The fact that one of the major Walsh-led initiatives was a big push for a focus on the development of a positive club environment for the players. Completely overhauling the players area and making it accessible to players only, opening up access to coaching staff, the club had also brought additional people in for player support and management.

Hopefully this is something that the club continues to invest significant money in. Have a look at what Hawks have planned with all their cash, they're investing enormous $$ in to new facilities for training but also for rookie players to stay at the club if they want to.

This why Roo stepped in before it was too late.

On the face of it we treated Sando harshly. But go another year under him and we could have got a point of no return. Or at least further away from where we wanted to be.
