It was a great mark Sco in the circumstance and probably one of the few highlight for me anyway.

I also loved the fact he got up after that sore excuse for a sniper Thomas tried to take him out.

Sad to see how far Thomas has fallen since 2011. Then I think about the team he plays for and I :)
I also though Aish played a better than average game last night, probably his best in Black and White, though have not seen every game.
He is starting to look like eh believes he belongs in the side, where earlier he has looked like the "new kid standing around with his hands in his pockets" a tad.

Everyone around me was impressed by his courage in taking that mark. Some still managed to make sure they showed some level of negativity by saying "i had to rub my eyes to make sure it was actually Aish underneath it". Also, the fact that everyone in the thread automatically knows what mark we are talking about tells you it was pretty courageous and stood out.

Was absolutely a great mark, the ball went very high into the air and was up there for a long time, as OA said many great players have not been able to take a similar mark. The footsteps you would hear and the feeling that you are possibly about to get a knee to the back makes it tough. No doubt the Carlton players were probably screaming stuff to put him off. It was a great courageous mark.

Aside from that, he had a good game, i agree with a previous poster, you think over the next 5-10 years what is Blair going to offer us? Harsh as it sounds probably not a lot, De Goey and Aish are the future, get them in the middle for a run on the ball instead.

It was just a great mark in general. Courage aside (which should be non negotiable anyway), 9 times out of 10 you'd expect a ball like that to end up going to ground. Aish did exceptionally well to hold that mark, and that was what impressed me more than the fact that he stood his ground despite inevitable contact from behind.

You have to worry about a guy who gets beaten up by Dale Thomas. I've had a few positive thoughts about him over the last few weeks but as a guy who nearly made the top half dozen in the draft, he is well below par. I'm having to field questions from people at work about how average he is. He's becoming a source of embarrassment and I think i'm going to turn on him pretty soon....

Aish was excellent. Much maligned. The kid is a 20-21 year old, had injury issues, had Brisbane bear issues and had come to a massively intimidating club with extreme pressures to perform highly from day dot.

Has performed well in the past couple of games. Lots to work with and as team becomes a more cohesive unit he will flourish.

Much like the Maynard hating on here, he gets judged quite harshly. Played much better than many of established players so he deserves the kudos he's getting.

He, along with Maynard, will be a very good player for us.
Bang on. personally I don't care too much what a player does from games 1-40 because it's very rare that they have a huge impact / barring on the game. what his shown is that he was asked to go back to the 2nds and work on a few things which he appears to have done for and slowly slowly he has improved. contested ball is up, and for mine he is beginning to look as though he belongs. the last qtr you could see his confidence building.

Incredibly courageous mark? That's not really my takeaway. He stood under and marked a sky ball without shirking the contest which should be the expectation of each and every player that takes the field. Howe and Oxley could learn a thing or two from it though given their propensity to hesitate when backing into a contest as the plus one.
Expectation yes, But how many actually do it !

I watched him pretty closely on Sat night at the game.

He had patches where he went missing a bit, but overall I thought he was pretty good.

One great courageous mark and good skills.

God knows we need more skilled outside players....tough unskilled players we do not need!

So if he went pick 60 you would be happy with his performance ? the Kid can only play his best footy and if recruiters choose to pick him pick 1 or pick 101 is irrelevant. if anything Brisbane recruiters clearly over-rated him and clearly have no real development program.

Still surprises me how many posters markfs manages to suck in after all this time...
I could say the same about your posts too. You're clearly an intelligent person but I think most of the regulars understand that you dont really believe what you're posting. Not that I'm criticising. Sometimes, i like to rant too and say things one week that I might contradict the next week.... so I suppose we're similar in that way...

well clearly we'd be upset if we picked ben sinclair at pick 6. Enough people are upset with him even though he was picked up at 63.

Agree with this. He did some excellent things at times and I am quite comfortable when he has ball in hand. He does fade out at times.

I think he lost a lot of confidence in himself last year and may still be questioning if he is good enough. You get the feeling Leppa may have tried to take Aisho down a notch or two to temper some of that first year over confidence he displayed. That works well with some guys but not with others, it can be a very negative thing to be torn down like that.

Its an old school coaching thing that I have seen happen a lot at lower levels of football. For young guys it can be damaging as they are used to being encouraged and congratulated through junior football then suddenly they are getting whacked and some kids (yes they are kids at 18-20) do not respond, in fact I have seen some kids at lower levels quit the game they used to love. I have also seen some kids respond and get the best out of themselves to stick it up certain people. But generally it is all round unhealthy and equates to bullying and intimidation.

Since last year at the Lions I have seen him hesitate and be afraid to make errors, which I think makes him not want the ball like good players do. I see this less at VFL level and he did not show this in his junior days or year 1 at the Lions. So I am joining the dots. I think he is going to take time to build to a point where he thinks he belongs at AFL level again.

Not sure when I've contradicted myself, especially consistently as you seem to be implying? Unless you're talking about the exchange with Magpie Brute the other day, which wasn't actually a contradiction at all given I wasn't criticising Hine like he thought I was...

I'll give you the rant bit though. I do like a good one every now and then.

I dont keep track of who is posting what so I wouldnt have a clue if you contradict yourself, so I should have said that I'm the one that does it. For some reason, I seem to attract these comments which say that I'm trying to troll or make people look stupid. I'm still not sure what trolling so I cant comment on that but I know that making some people look stupid seems a bit redundant to me.

I've never seen anyone post warnings about Thatsgold and I can't believe that people should treat his posts seriously.... is anyone that negative about their team or anyone else's team for that matter. Please dont tell me that he has a mental affliction and I should apologise...

I reckon there is a Possibility that Aish wanted to be Traded to is in the Beams Trade.

After being Denied he said he seek trade to us next season. So he was treated like he was going to leave.

This just something I seen mentioned so nothing Concrete

And that is what Brisbane's problem is, they accept defeat. instead of going.. you know what let's make this place a good environment and entice Aish to stay. they just accept it and dump in in the 2nd's. hypothetical that he had an Elite year. they could have demanded a top 1-5 draft pick

Instead they did the Opposite and made him want to go more.

I'm of the belief if your upto it you're upto it and if your not, you're not. Selection in the draft is irrelevant for mine.

If a kid shows something then he sticks around. Myself and many on here still can't see the upside of Ben Sinclair after 6 seasons. Upside for Aish is hes still relatively inexperienced and has elite kicking, his game on the weekend was his best for the club and that surely has to be something we Pie fans should be excited about.
