Big sign Hird is ready to return to footy

James Hird has moved a step closer to a return to football after Greater Western Sydney confirmed on Wednesday that the Essendon champion would share his expertise with the club this weekend.

James Hird has given GWS players a rare insight into his wild ride in football and will now engage with the Giants in a more intimate exchange of ideas.

GWS hoping to get better treatment than Essendon when employing drug cheats.

News in a few months will be "GWS players confused as to why ASADA keeps turning up for unannounced drug tests". And the testing will double after Hird convinces GWS to hire health experts Shane Charter and Dean Robinson.

But hey, if this is what it takes for James and Tania's extensive notes to be released then its all good Im sure.

The AFL will demand that he follows through with his promise to ensure that all facts will be revealed... right?

You don’t think it’s possible for people to learn from their screw-ups?

Hird cheated no doubt. All for second chances. Though not sure we are the club for it.
Could be worse, he could be like Carey and be protected by the media after actively injuring those he professed to care for and assaulting women.

Depends on his role, as a leadership/playing/mentor role, I think he would be pretty solid. Has been a successful player and seen the lowest of lows as a coach, and would be largely away from any form of spotlight.

Not sure he's anything special as a coach to justify a club taking him on as an assistant coach, certainly not if he's in the box on gameday.
