The footage of Fev tonight on TFS confirms one thing. That James Hird is a class act. You can have money and talent, but decorum and decency is priceless.
Always had admiration for the man, but seeing how he carried himself on Monday with Fev just confirms it.
Not all footballers are boofheads and that was a snapshot of the parity that currently exists.
Good call smart call, right call, jim bob hird is all class call.

Some of you guys sound like a bunch of arrogant w***ers. You can't judge people just because they're loud when they have a few beers. You can't judge people just because they might not be as intelligent as the next bloke. You certainly can't judge people who work with the council and say that you'd avoid them at the pub just for this reason.

Yes you can.

No, he's just country. There is a difference.

You won't find him at a black-tie function screaming across a crowded room that one of his fellow leaders at the club is "****ing shit" or bellowing out "I've got a stiffy!"

He certainly likes to have a good time, but in terms of managing his behavior in the context of the particular situation he is in, don't even try to compare him with Fev.

Saw J. Brown out at a club in Melbourne at the end of the 2006 season with several other players from various clubs, and he was the best behaved of all of them. He talks all ocker and rough, but there's a brain in his head somewhere.

You guys seem to be under the impression that all Fev did was what was shown on tape on the Footy Show. That was barely the tip of the iceberg.

Fevola is child. We all know this. I'm surprised people care anymore. The fact he can kick a ball seems to redeem the fact he's a brainless pigeon in some people's eyes.

Why?

Whatever I guess. It'll keep happening.

Bit insulting to Jonathan Brown to compare him to Fevola. The former is the captain of the Lions for a reason. He may be one of the boys, he may sound ocker, he may have a great sense of humour all just like Fevola. But J. Brown actually thinks about the consequences of his actions.

Agree with the OP. Hirdy is about as classy as they come. :thumbsu:

Why the circle jerk over Hird?

He simply did what any sober, rational individual would've done if presented with the same situation.

It's not class it's simply common sense.

Poor old Jimmy shit his nest ! I felt sorry for Hird in the end , because Fev ( whilst playing the drunken fool ) made him look like a wimp .

I also think Judd would of been real close to dropping Fev .

He may have made a cunnov himself , but we all know what he is like , they can't all be choir boys .

Hird didn't come across as a wimp to me.

Came across as a self-assured bloke who has control of himself.

Hird is a boring lame who does nothing but follow the party line. He is god-awful on On The Couch

Fev>>>>>>>>Hird

Hird is a champ on and off the field, Fev is a ******** who cheated on his wife. Had she just had the kid or was she pregnant at the time? But I guess thats just him being a good ol Aussie larrikan.

Nothing to feel sorry for Hird about - looked like most others did when faced with this type of behaviour. If Judd didn't have to put up with him because he was the captain, he would have responded in the same way!

Nice of his wife, "I haven't seen him for half an hour, I'm running away from him."

Sensational, as long as he doesn't ruin your night; god forbid you take him home or something.

Or maybe she knows first hand what he is like when that drunk, probably has learned it's best to stay out of his way.

Isn't it funny that most North Melbourne supporters hates Hird?

To be honest, Hird seemed like a bit of a dick to me. Fev was having light hearted good fun and Hird basically called him a ********, now I'm sure it's true but no need to do it.

Fev was bloody brilliant, the game needs people like him as much as it needs the goody goody James Hird types as well.

.

What? Fev wanted to speak about politics at a drunk state with the cameras all over him.

Hird simply suggested that wouldn't be a good idea.

HOW the **** did Hird seemed like a dick with that?

Watch the footage again.

Tend to agree.

All nice for Hird but I didn't think he did anything out of the ordinary.

Watched it a couple of times, both times he came off as a condescending dick to me. He knew camera's were there and took it as a chance to belittle Fev and try and ride his high horse, I don't like people who act like their shit doesn't stink, that is the direct impression I got from Hird in this situation.

Ummm NO.

Hird was minding his own business and Fev went over to him. As soon as he got to Hird he knew he wanted nothing to do with it yet persisted any way.
He was lucky Hird was a little sensible.

Everyone has a drink at the Brownload... it just so happens Fev was an idiot and off his face. Was no reason to get that smashed at what is the biggest AFL toss up of the year.

It's like getting hammered at your work Christmas party. You get drunk and have some fun, but NEVER get smashed.
