I'm angry. That weak little stomp or whatever you want to call it was so bloody stupid. Mitchell was tempting fate as well with his idiotic elbow.
Two stupid acts off the ball on fair players in Atley & Goldstein yet none of our guys managed to iron out the little prick that could've put Mirra in a wheelchair?

Like smashing someone into the fence?

No, I'd be asking for natural justice. Sadly, we'll get neither.
It doesn't matter they are completely different incidents

Sis stood on a guys leg while he was lying on the ground, other way round and we would be ropeable and wanting a decent suspension

Lulz on the people saying he’s a disgrace to the jumper or should be traded who probably (and rightfully) love Derm. I get that it’s different eras - but Derm was an absolute thug when he wanted to be.

James Sicily has yet to serious injure anyone on the footy field so stop acting all high and mighty and give him a chance. This was hardly a hangable offence. You would be foolish to think that Clarko and the leadership group aren’t going to come down hard at him because he is being undisciplined and every single one of his actions are being put under the absolute microscope every millisecond he is on and off the footy field.

Really, I don't think we would.

Was a nasty prick thing to do but actually caused no harm at all.

Both are grubby, little cheap acts.

Either suspend both or neither. Nobody was hurt. Both are gutless, but let's get fair dinkum. And Mirra didn't even get a free. lol

Love these moments, all these perfect people in their rocking chairs firing off from a double barrel.
Atley is nearly the quickest in the league yet doesn't even get into a scamper to remonstrate.
God bligh me people, get ya heads out of your backsides.

I still love him. He suffers White Line fever more than most but will get it under control - he needs to realise from this incident that absolutely everything he does out on the footy field is going to be investigated and adjust his thinking accordingly.

Many worse incidents have gone uncited and unpunished than that - like a previous poster said he is a marked man.

Sicily needs to work with the team shrink to stop this shit. This isn't about the impact, its about deliberately trying to hurt a guy lying face down on the ground. As gutless as it is stupid. We need to take whatever the tribunal dishes out and hope Sicily out doesn't completely derail our season. Unbelievably frustrating brain explosions in his last two games. Seriously think we could have beaten Richmond with Sicily in the side. His lack of control could very well cost us a finals spot.
He was deliberately trying to hurt the guy, come on.

Look. If you went to Sis and spoke to him about it, he would regret it,no doubt about it.

Have you played the sport before? Shit happens in the heat of the moment. Players all react differently from each other, from the ones who curl up in a ball when the pressure is on to the true champions who find a way, to players like Sicily who are passionate and in the heat of the moment and in an absolute millisecond make a silly choice...
It doesn’t make him all the names you’ve called him. In fact the bloke he stepped on got up, walked off and probably didn’t think about it until an hour or so after the game.

Before you go around potting the players you supposedly support as if they’re Hitler for minor indiscretions, just take a deep breath, realise they are human and are emotional- like you and me. Bottom line, shit happens.

Really?

I absolutely loved when he gave it to Selwood for ducking - that was an objectively dumb thing but done in the heat of the moment and for reasons all of us can empathise with.

Love having players who are a bit wild.

But stopping next to a player, away from the ball, looking down and going hrm I might just stand on this guy’s leg?

Weird, weird unit.

I'm ropeable. After just missing a week he goes and does something like that. First order tool.

It's not the severity of it... It's the stupidity of it.

Belongs at * and will probably end up there.

I bloody hope not. He'll be an AA defender this year or next. Every premiership team needs a couple of c-nuts.

And the intent of the guy who slammed Mirra into the fence?!

We had just banged on 3 goals and looked like mounting a charge. The intent there was planned, Scott would of instructed the Roos at half time that if the Hawks got on a bit of a roll, start some fights to put them off their game. Good coaching.

That bump was intentional and the next few minutes were full of some pretty physical stuff, mostly from their guys but plenty of unnecessary retaliation from our guys, naturally it ended in Hawthorn being penalised. It worked beautifully for Scott and I am more annoyed at the Hawks for biting than Scott for trying it.

Loving the pitchfork mob on here. Were you all calling for Hodgey to be traded when he put Wingard into a point post? Way more potential for injury in that incident. Yup, Hodge has more credits in the bank - the point is if you’re willing to let it slide for premiership heroes then you have to let it slide for the up and comers too.

We’d just be handing money over if we appeal.

The club knows this.

Sicily is a marked man, the sooner he recognizes this the better.
Totally agree with all of this Abasi but if they want to make an example of him and make a statement then why not hit him where it really hurts and that is in the hip pocket. Fine him a large sum of money. Maybe the club will anyway. Just don’t think this particular offence is that serious, not a good look I agree but not worthy of a multiple week sentence. How does a low impact, to the body not the head (no apparent injury to the player who continued on in the game) offence go straight to the tribunal???

Will (rightfully) get a week or two. Stupid thing to do. Having said that when I saw the reaction on social media I thought he'd really stamped on the guy and people were calling for 4-6 weeks. It was a grubby and silly act, but certainly low impact though if we went by the MRP metrics.

He was deliberately trying to hurt the guy, come on.

What do you think he was doing, trying to give him a gentle massage? I'm not saying he was trying to kill him, or even injure him, but let me stand on the back of your leg with studded boots (albeit plastic moulding) and 90kg behind it, and tell me it doesn't hurt. Eye gouges and sticking your finger up someones date rarely cause injury either, but along with deliberately standing on a bloke lying prostrate on the ground, they belong in a basket of shit that shouldn't be done on a sporting field.

Sicily is fine, he's a young kid and will learn not to cross the line as often as his career progresses. Its very rare for players of his age to cop the attention from the opposition he's now receiving on a weekly basis so naturally he's going through a learning curve.

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that he only cops a week, but I struggle to see why they'd bother sending him to the tribunal unless they want to make a statement.

Apologies for the heated posts.

I'd like to say "I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed", but I'm actually both.

So if an opposition player stood on Cyril's leg like that you don't think people would want the player suspended in some capacity ?

Technically should get off with a fine. But it's James Sicily and the AFL would be keen to stop a disgusting pattern of behaviour he's developing. 1 week I think as any more would be going over the top and set an ugly precedent.
