Skills for the first game of a season are expected to be worse, so give Walker a little room on that one. Plus back in the AFL would be a shock. Walker and Browne were in the top 3 easily, and both of them played little in 2006. Hopefully they can keep the form up, I was most impressed with Browne tackling like a 6 foot 4 behemoth.

I'm more worried about our "regulars" who didn't do much at all, but again it's the 1st game and we had 8 on our bench. Seems a lot of our regulars got rotated in favour of the ones we need to test.

Walker up till now has been an average player for us, a bit like MacManus pre 2006, but his form last game might hint at him taking the next step. I watched a few Peel games last year and he was the same for them as he was when playing for Freo in the past. So he must have done something THIS preseason. We have 2 more games until Freo are in the NAB CUP final so we will be able to see if he has changed his ways.

He turns the ball over no more than half your backline. You have no targets up forward so that makes decision making tough. The best kicks in the league suffer due to this and fre has had a ******** forward line for ages. Tarrent will sure up your forward line a be a leading target. Walker would of finished in your top 10 in the b&f more than the majority of the players in the last 8 years.(probably 6 times). Injuries dont help. He will be a good player to watch this year.

Think some of you are being a bit harsh on Jimmy. Up until his injujry he was always a regular in the backline. Like Parker, never looked speccy, but Mr Cool reliable, when he got it you relaxed a little, because he always did something constructive to relieve the pressure. 2006 coming back from injury, he sadly lacked confidence and skills suffered, was not the same player, even at Peel.

Hopefully, he's turned the corner again, back to being the steadying influence in defence, Go Jimmy.

With the Wiz and Johnno likely to miss a few at the start of the season, Walker will definitely get his chance to stake his claim! Now it's up to him!

Everyone's been talking about how much depth we seem to have and so these suspensions give all the 2nd tiers a shot.

You guys would have to be happy with Walker's first two games of the year wouldn't you.......not a name that was coming up in a lot of hypothetical best 22s' and he has been in your bets both weeks hasn't he?

The one that has shown some ability to get the ball (though his kicking was suspect in a couple of passges against Kangaroos) was Andrew Browne. Been very solid the last two weeks. Is he a chance to take Farmer's spot now?

I've noticed a few posters bringing Browne's name up when discussing who to replace Farmer with. Hope he gets a run and makes the most of it!
