one player i really think could help out T-Bird in defence, should develop quite nicely. Seen him play for the cannons a couple of times and was impressed each time. Pick 36 should be ideal for him i believe.

James Wall
Details:
Club: St Bernards/Calder Cannons
DOB: 5 January 1987 Hgt:198cm Wgt: 82kg
Position: Forward/Defender
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
TAC Cup Team of the Year 2005 - Back Pocket
AFL Draft Camp 2005

Statistics:
2004 TAC Cup: 18 games, 1 goals, average 5.8 PPG, 1 time in best
2005 TAC Cup: 12 games, 18 goals, average 14.0 PPG, 3 times in best
2005 U18 National Championships: 3 games, 0 goals, average 10.3 PPG

Awards:
TAC Cup Coaches Award: 10 votes
TAC Cup Morrish Medal: 3 votes

Draft Camp:
Beep Test 14.3 (equal 9th)

Background:
Tall key position who missed the early part of this season with a broken arm. He was a late call up to the Vic Metro squad and made the final squad. Kicked two goals or more with the Cannons in seven matches this year proving that he can play at that end as well, and also played well in defence.

Strengths:
- Very athletic for his height
- Versatile: can ruck, go forward or back

Weaknesses:
- Not a real stand out player at the Cannons
- Needs to bulk up

Footydraft.com comment:
The sort of player who might gather momentum in the lead up to the draft and shoot up the draft list with clubs looking for tall, mobile players.

Yeah I like him too, offers plenty. Not sure if 36 is too early or not but he was vice-captain of the Cannons this year showing good leadership qualities. He can play key back, key forward or in the ruck. Is certainly tall enough at 198cm but still very like. Needs at least another 10-12kg to play seniors I would think but would be a project player for us.

Just my opinion, but to me, Wayde Mills would seem to have more potential as a KP defender at pick #36

.....already reasonably big bodied but still tested very well at draft camp so has the engine as well....doesn't need to bulk up much and therefore not likely to lose much pace either... I haven't heard much about his skill level though...i think he has a union background so that could be a question mark.

Not as tall as Wall but has a v. good vertical leap.

Would think both Wall and Mills would still be around at pick 36. What about others such as Bower, Cheetham and Edwards. How do people rate these guys?

I wouldn't expect Bower to last to 36 but he would be a no-brainer selection there.....otherwise i would think Mills or Edwards (still bottom age with lots of potential).

for pick 36 he would be a good get.

for pick 20 I would take Bower. Would not take Spangher after his testing was absolutely abysmal at draft camp. I realise he has OP but he was bottom 10% in almost everything.

I have Bower at 20 on my draft.

Lucy in the top 15. Mills in the top 30.

So would be very happy with Bower at 20 and Mills at 36 with Murphy at 1 and Hurn at 4 who I believe are the 2 best players in the draft anyway and the 2 players who would help us the most long term.

Wall will develop into a great FB has got the big long arms that defenders need and is the Height we need in defence as most of our KPP defenders are only 190-193cm, as far as being to skinny i will just say one name Fletcher who has similar build and attributes, will be a bargain at 36 :thumbsu:

no way another skinny tall, project player long way off, one trick pony
A one trick pony that can play both ends of the ground that sounds like 2 tricks to me, much better option than Livo at FB. :D
